Who else does high speed cable apart from Virgin?

You'll have to petition Ofcom to break up Virgin Media's cable monopoly. Perhaps by finding the equivalent to LLU.

a wholesale product would be a start. As you say, convince OFCOM that VM have "significant market power" in their cabled areas.

While your at it please get VM to expand coverage :P

This is a difficult one. Personally I would like to see VM's position strengthened, if anything, rather than weakened (by cable competition) as I think it needs all the help it can get to take on Sky. I'm afraid I dislike and distrust Rupert Murdoch.

As many others do, I'm sure. Trouble is if all the disliked business people were removed there would be very little business left.

Indeed! Particularly as no-one is liked by everyone.

I guess that answers my question then, that there's obviously no other cable provider.
I'm amazed actually. You'd think since cable technology is in place that other companies would be on the case while simultaneously breaking VM's monopoly. Maybe in a year from now cable will be offered by more ISP's.
It's not so much that I resent VM having a monopoly as long as the service works, it's just a case of allowing prices to come down and hopefully not increase even more. Apparently though, VM reckon they'll have 50 MB cable at the end of the year. I suppose that in itself may possibly make VM bring down their 20MB price,

thats silly, VM bought up all the cable companies. IT costs millions to lay cable, why should they be forced to give it away cheap. BT on the other hand used to be mine before thatcher started selling off the family jewelry, its right that we (who didn't feel at the time like buying something that was already ours) should see a return via cheaper alternatives using the infrastructure that our taxes paid for.

VM bought up all the cable companies.
