Moving House + Moving ISP

We're in the process of moving house (about a mile away from where we are currently). At the moment we're with Nildram, on their '8mbit' service... We've been with them for well over a year and a half in our current location (Cambridgeshire), and a year back in Glasgow. They have always been fairly good, but the service has been fairly poor recently... Have a look at this graph:

(We've changed nothing in the way of hardware, phones, connections e.t.c...)

So in the next day or two we're moving into our house, and we'd like to try someone else. I know we can definitely get Sky, we can definitely get Virgin (digital) and Samknows has told us we can get the following:

BT Wholesale ADSL
BT Wholesale ADSL Max
AOL LLU
Bulldog LLU
TalkTalk (CPW) LLU
Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU
Tiscali LLU
Virgin Media (Cable)

My first mind would be to go with Virgin, on the 20mbit line... but after reading some reviews i'm a bit hesitant.

Price e.t.c.. isn't too important, (we're paying �34 odd a month at the moment, for Nildram + BT Line), but what is important is the usage. We have a 50gb allowance right now, so I think if we can be as close to this as possible that would be great, but again not a priority over speed/reliability.

Any recommendations?

Are you going to have a sky satellite package at your new address, if yes go with sky as the LLU broadband seems to be highly rated by its users..
But you dont have to have a sky tv , to enjoy there network, UKonline are also part of the sky group , which would let you enjoy there LLU network...

As you have found Virgin Media cable is pretty hit and miss.

If you want Sky TV then getting Sky broadband LLU makes economic sense.

Otherwise your best bet would probably be an Entanet reseller (e.g. ADSL24, UKFSN, etc.) for your projected level of usage.

One question is what sort of speed you will get at the new address. Until a phone line is in and working on broadband you won't know.

Even so, as already said, if you have Sky TV then that's probably the best solution. UKOnline is a bit more pricey but basically the same service without needing the TV.

Otherwise as already suggested, an Entanet reseller. If freeola, (who are one), are still offering their �9.99 connection and 1-month contract maybe sign up for them until you have the facts about the line.

Remember when you first get the phone the distance and possible speeds in the estimators will almost certainly be those for where that number previously went to. It takes a few days to several weeks for it to get updated. Quite a few people get caught by that - either what they get is less than they expected, or they can't order what they want because it says the line isn't good enough.
