Re: O2, Sky or other?

It can take up to 5 days for your profile to rise once you get a high sync - see this table and the explanations above and below it. I would think you are looking at possibly 3 days with that sort of jump, but you may be unlucky.

At least you should get a 3Mbps profile !

The whole point of the i-Plate is that you do not remove the ring wire, so you did right. If you had removed the ring wire you wouldn't have needed the i-Plate, as I expect has already been explained, but technically you would have had to replace it if you moved house.

O2 are still saying Christmas/January for the upgrades I think. Although it is only some that are affected, if nervous why not just wait and see what people say in late January? Better that than the hassle of migrating out again if you are unhappy, even with a refund.

ok thanks for that, will keep an eye on it to see what I get and when it changes(been stuck at under 1Mb for 16months now, would be nice to get 2Mb+ for a change).

is the O2 work only on the LLU or the Access package as well? as I've mentioned can only get the Access package(upto 8Mb d/l, 448kb u/l, 22.50 non-O2 mobile customers, 17.50 O2 mobile customers).

I think it is on 3 things. Access and LLU between some customers and O2, and congestion the other side of O2 affecting both.

All being worked on it seems. But info from O2 is only by hearsay from users who have been told things by support when they have rung about something, and from slightly better info on the Be side of things. But of course Be don't have a non-LLU package.

well the profile has been updated to 3mb(changed at 4am this morning, was expecting it to take a bit longer), bt speed tester said ~2.7mb actual through put while speedtest.net gave ~2.9mb. so the i-plate has done something, the speed has gone up from around 1mb upto around 3mb.

now just need to hope the router can hold the connection and doesn't keep droping it and get the profile dropped down to around the 1mb mark again, I had to restart the router this morning to get it to sync at 3.5mb again as it had dropped the connection after ~12hrs and synced at 1.9mb.

That loss of sync is a pain if it keeps happening, unless you can find the cause. It will have dropped your profile back down to 1500kbps .

the router just lost connection again about 10mins ago(lasted 10hrs this time, 1st time was 12hrs) and resynced at 2.94mb, I tried restarting to get the sync back upto ~3.5mb but its synced at 2.91mb. looks like my line can't handle 3mb(according to line tests(samknows etc) say the line can only handle 0.5-1mb)

as long as I can get 2mb-2.5mb it'll be better than the 500kb-800kb I was getting before.

I've got the MAC from ADSL24 today, going to check a couple of things with O2 before I place the order. was thinking of maybe holding off till febuary, but with the change in the peak/off peak by Enta will be moving by mid/end january.

It's a bad time of year to go looking for good sync speeds- interference from Christmas lights can play merry hell with ADSL signals
