hey,
just found out i can use a local wireless isp for faster speeds. anyone know what security is like with them though?

it says its encrypted with 128bit AES encryption. is this really adequate?

When you say wireless do you mean wi-fi? Can you post a link to the service providers website and package details?

If it is wi-fi then I would guess they are using WPA2 AES encryption - in which case that would probably be more than adequate for normal security requirements (it's more than the majority of home networks run).

Ah, Wimax. Comment about security still stands - 128bit AES will probably suit most security requirements but 256bit would be much better.

Might want to look at this thread from July.

Hehe! You wish!

Looking at their home page, installation from 99 and service from 24.99. But no actual price lists that I can find.

I wonder what speed you get for 24.99?

VFast 'fair usage' definition.

Excessive Transfer of Data.
The transfer of data beyond that which VFast
considers fair. While bandwidth is automatically limited to the throughput specified in
the Users Service plan, VFast reserves the right to monitor data transfer use of its
customers. Transfer of data in excess of your fair share will result in a warning to
cease. Failure to comply will result in restriction or termination of the Service.

Totally meaningless.
