standalone deal for light user

[link to this post]

My pensioner friend is after a stand alone deal ie not combined with phone deal, he has a bt line and there is no cable in this area. Would expect him to use less than 2Gb in a month, just emails and browsing mainly and needs to be cheap as possible, but he's not techhy so decent customer service would be helpful. My preferred option to recommend Plusnet option 1 to him £9.75 a month. Any comments or other suggestions? Thanks

Does he have a mobile phone (e.g. One with O2)?
Does he have SkyTV?
Does his exchange have any unbundled services (BE, O2, Sky, Orange, AOL, Talk-Talk, etc.)? You can check here.

Well maybe surprisingly, he doesn't have a mobile phone and doesn't want one. No Sky TV just freeview and below are the LLUs available. If a combined phone deal really was the best option by far I could try to explain/sell it to him, but he likes to keep things simple.

AOL:
Enabled as of 05/11/2007
O2 / Be:
Enabled as of 28/03/2008
Orange: Enabled
Sky / Easynet: Enabled as of 27/03/2007
TalkTalk (CPW): Enabled as of 09/06/2007
Tiscali: Enabled as of 01/05/2008
Tiscali TV: Enabled

With no mobile phone, and no Sky, and a desire to keep away from all-in packages (such as the Talk-Talk one), an el-cheapo Plusnet package would be the better solution.

There is also double money back via quidco at the moment.

There's another deal with one of the switching sites but thats less suitable for a pensioner.
