Static IP address

[link to this post]

I'm on BT Broadband Option2 (20GB limit at £17.54 a month).

But I now need a static IP address.

And it seems the only way I can do this is to upgrade to BT Business Broadband at £22.50 per month + £5 per month for a static IP address.

Is there any other way to do this with BT, or can anyone recommend an ISP that offers static IP addresses ?

There are plenty of providers that will give you a single static IP, or even a block for free.

We're able to do this for free, but there are others such as Enta (their resellers, UKFSN, ADSL24 etc), Plusnet, Zen and so on smile.

I wouldn't bother with BT Business! What services are available at your exchange?

Out of interest, why do you suddenly need a static IP?

I want to plug a hard drive (NAS) in so that I can access it from wherever I may be.

You can do that using a dynamic DNS service

There is LLU at my exchange but I think I am too far away to get this. I'm currently on BTMax (up to 8Mb) but I only get 1MB
