Can i ask if people on NewNet are happy and would you recommend them?

It's not for me but need to make sure there ok. I did phone NewNet yesterday and they seem nice enough. The only thing is, they told me that it's a monthly contract but they said, if you leave in twelve months, you have to pay about £35. To me, thats just like being on a twelve contract.

Also is it ok to sign up there broadband from my computer? or do you have to use there line to do it? I think you can but don't want to mess things up.

I believe that the £35 'charge' replaces a setup charge? Basically they are saying stay with us 12 months and we'll give you a free install

The 'around £35' figure appears to be the deferred, inward migration cost of £40.09 excluding VAT for 24Mb, or the 8Mb 'new connection' cost.

You can subscribe from any internet connection that gives you access to the sign-up page.

I have not been with BT for years so not sure on this.

When you have the ten day training period, do you have to keep your modem on for the whole ten days?
I don't think you do and you should be able to turn your modem off.

You can turn it off at night with no problem.

I suggest you don't turn it on and off in the day if not using it at times. That could look like instability and have a short term effect on speed, and in the 10-day period that could have an effect on long-term fault criteria.
