Bethere and wired network

I'm just about to get my MAC code from F2S - don't laugh! I'm planning to switch to Bethere. I'd rather stick with my Speedtouch 546 wired router. Why change it when it works and no chance of being hacked. The data spec from Thomson says it is ADSL2+ compliant. Bethere say they are happy for other routers to be used but add "If you're ever in need of troubleshooting, you will need to plug in the Be modem".

Is there really likely to be a problem?

Unlikely, given they supply a Speedtouch 585 as the Bebox.

I have to ask........ Why do you think that there is less chance of being "hacked" while using your current router than with any other and, who would want to "hack" you?

Didn't Be have a backdoor into their supplied routers? I don't know if they've stopped that practice but it would have given a hacking opportunity.

How does poster know the 546 doesn't have one?

The remote admin feature of Speedtouch kit was surprisingly popular

I thought that Be had undocumented logins, rather more than enabling remote admin which several routers provide (disabled by default in my Netgear's case).
