I note there is no forum specifically for CoopTel.

Is that because their service is actually provided by someone else, and if so, who, please?

Thanks. It wasn't just that they don't have a forum, but that they aren't listed at all, in comparison tables or anywhere else.

If it's The Phone Co-op you're referring to, something in the back of my mind tells me that they resell Tiscali products but I may be wildly wrong on this.
Whoever they use, at ~£40 for 50Gig over an up to 8M traffic managed solution with a minimum 12 month contract, they seem a bit pricey.

Thanks - yes, it is the Phone Co-op package which my relative is signed up to (not on my advice!)

So - Tiscali ... They always used to be absolutely terrible. Are they still as bad nowadays?

I have suggested to her that if she wants a really good, 24/7 local call rate help desk, she could do worse than to join me on PlusNet ...

A general question: is there any way of finding out whose service any reseller is re-selling, please?

If it is Tiscali, and I'm far from certain that it is, it would probably be Tiscali Wholesale which is a different animal to the dreadful retail provider.
As for finding out, you could try finding out whose IP block her connection uses or by using traceroutes etc. Some speed tests show the provider rather than the reseller.
If you want to PM me an external IP that is or has been allocated to her, I'll look it up for you if you like.

Thanks, but I'll hang fire for the moment. And thanks for explaining the difference between Tiscali retail and Tiscali wholesale, which I hadn't appreciated.

At present, it looks like her main problem is a noisy line to the exchange.
