orange to ?

At present---sorry-hi all Mark from Moddiesburn Scotland, well at present im
with Orange and getting speeds so slow im moving isp. Been with Orange
since freeserve but as i said it was down for 2 days now getting a 0.25mb
speed which is [censored].
I lknow where i live the max is 2mb well see if i can get a constant 1mb id be
happy. Thinking of moving to talk talk but any others i can check please let me know.
Not really up on it but checking my exchange sky and TT seem to be on "llu" at
this exchange and this after reading some seems better.
I dont d/l much but on occasion do a bit of c/s with my family so dont want any
hassel from an isp...
What u think ?

The speeds im getting now....well i upgraded my router and installed new cables
but Orange always blame your gear...thats bull..thats if i can get someone who
understands my broad scots accent when i call...i always change it to my polite
english accent but they never understand me...12 hrs over the last few days
fitting cables trying just to get my connection working....BUT its nothing at my
end its thier end...

If you can post back with your full router stats, it would help work out if you have an issue, what it may be and what speeds you might be able to achieve.

Can you say if speed has decreased since change of router
What cabling has been been changed.
What is speed from master socket.
Have you checked via BT Line Test if there is a line problem.

Had a belkin but a pretty old one but it was working ok but decided to go for a TP-Link..my phones in my
living room and i have an extension going upstairs so my router is beside my pc, do a lot of LAN and have
3 items on my LAN.
Not really sure what you mean about my router stats or where to get them but if i can just say ive
been pretty good with setting up. I bought the router and changed the cable going upstairs.

One part of BT test is or seems down but on the other part just tested it there my d/l id 0.25mb and
has been like that for about a week. I called Orange but there [censored] to deal with so looking for
a better even slightly faster more reliable connection.

(easier to read with the extra line feeds taken out as well ), but were there any FEC or RS figures?

Your connection speed of 2304kbps is fine for the line length. Please can you run a BT Performance Test, and post the text results from the download and upload results boxes? If the test hangs, please can you let us know the "Configured download speed" that shows during the testing phase.

Is there any way you can take your router down to the master socket and try a wired speed test there? That's the only way we can eliminate something dodgy with your wiring. Best setup for a diagnostic test is computer >> ethernet cable >> router >> short ADSL cable >> dangly filter >> test socket, on the wall at the back in this pic. Any phone-type extension lead is likely to spoil this test.

You definitely have a problem somewhere though, with those SNR Margin figures.

Hi, you have broadband poverty with your connection line attenuation: 63.5 db downstream, 31.5 db upstream. BT says you may get 1Mbps or 2Mbps speed on ADSL Max. As RobertoS says, you have a problem somewhere with the SNR Margin 16.0db downstream, 18.0 db upstream. The SNR Margin upstream should be approximately half the downstream reading.

Not true! They are unrelated, particularly when Up Sync is fixed. More true for Attenuation.

Hi XRaySpeX, I stand corrected! I see on another forum router stats that are similar with high Line attenuation 60.4 db downstream, and the SNR (Noise Margin) greater upstream than downstream.
