A good suggestion, but involves a bit of leg work, which the OP may or may not wish.

If they can’t find another package in their speed / price range, I’d stick it out with the current provider.

You can get 40/10 FTTP on BT ("Fibre Essentials"): search for offers and cashback.

Sky are currently selling FTTP at a discounted price of £25 per month for 80/20.

Vodafone will sell you 115/20 FTTP (via Openreach) for I believe £26 per month.

You can get 40/2 or 40/10 FTTP on Aquiss, albeit without a phone service.

Plusnet are rumoured to be launching FTTP "by the end of the year", although that is approaching fast and it has been delayed before.

I think the basic no-frills Vodafone Superfast 100 deal is slightly cheaper @ £23 per month on 2 year contract. Still don’t know if this is beyond the budget for the OP, even though it’s at the cheapest end of the scale for FTTP products.

Sounds like they’re quite happy with the basic ADSL levels of performance with Now…unfortunately nothing on FTTP currently at that price level (£18 per month??). Possibly some Black Friday sale desks going with BT Fibre Essentials, might get down to the low twenties but it’s barrel scraping…

The lowest I can see is 50Mb/s and with anytime calls is twice what I'm paying now.

If making unlimited outbound phonecalls is important to you, you may find it more cost-effective to use your mobile for that. There are packages with unlimited calls at under £5: e.g. Lebara £4.90 with unlimited minutes and 3GB data (via MSE referral link). Even if you don't have good mobile coverage, most modern phones and networks will do wifi calling.

Decoupling your voice use from your broadband service will make it much easier to swap providers going forwards, especially when you consider that by 2025 the analogue phone network will be switched off. Soon you'll be forced to plug your phone into your broadband router anyway.

Moving your phone number to a VOIP provider lets you receive calls independent from your broadband. Sipgate has zero monthly fees when used as PAYG, although if you want an unlimited calls package that's £9.95 per month - hence why using the mobile for outbound calls is likely to be more cost-effective. Other VOIP providers are available.
