There's usually a link posted if you allow error reporting, though it generally only seems to recommend installing SP2, which isn't much help if you already have.

Might be time to consider doing a repair installation...

Could be mobo beginning to give up the ghost, do you have any other applications seeming to need closing for no apparent reason?

crickey that can and maybe just about anything.

for instance ive been messing about a lot recently with converting of videos to play on tut 360.
if i take a dvd shrink to a single vob with dvd shrink and then rename to .mpg then any attempt to select (just select) the file by cliking on it produces an explorer error.

if however i rename the same file to a .dat it dosnt casue explorer to crash and plays just fine in WMP.

the problem here as i understand it is if its named an MPG then windows will try and prefetch on the file when you click it. and its having issues accessing the file due to codecs or some other tosh.

the file plays just great on the 360 mind you.

so its unfair to make assumptions that you mobo is dying or there is some kind of hardware error. you need to try and determin what actions it is that actualy cause the error to happen.
with windozs as buggy as it sometime the only way to fix the problem is not to casue it in the first place.

If you can remember when this first started then how about using System Restore - back to before it started happening ?
