PC Crash : Blue - Black Screen

Hi,

I would appreciate some assistance.

PC crashes every two to three days.

I am just browsing and click on a link and suddenly the PC crashes . It shows few lines of numbers and some words at the top of the screen. I get blue black screen very fast. Not able to read the message. Then the PC re-starts itself.

I have Windows 2000 pro.

I was using Firefox 3.0.1
at the time of the crash.

I am also using AVG free.

Right-click on My Computer, and select Properties. In the Advanced tab, Click on the Settings button under the 'Startup and Recovery' section. Switch off the 'Automatic Restart' toggle, under the 'System Failure' section. This will show the BSD, but not restart the computer, allowing you to get the error that is causing the issue.

or leave it at :

' small memory dump ( 64 kb ) '

Leave it at small for now - it should still give you the error code on the screen..

Hi, in my experience blue screens normally point to hardware failure of some kind. Have you changed anything on the computer or moved it recently? How long have you had the system? Rgds

It's seven years old !

It's a : Dell Precision WorkStation 340

It occasionally crashes when I click on to a website link when browsing.

I have AVG (free ) which does a scan once a day.

I'll do another full manual scan just to make sure.
