Firefox 3.5 has been here for a while now, and Firefox 3.6 awaits just around the corner to make an appearance, yet the guys over at Mozilla are already working on the development of Firefox 3.7. Considered only a minor upgrade for the browser, the 3.7 version is expected to land in March next year and bring around a series of visual changes to the Firefox that we know at the moment.

The UI changes are now being pushed back to 4.0

Yea - looks that way. 3.6-3.7 are just security enhancements, under the bonnet stuff.

To hold users over until the completely revamped Firefox 4.0, Mozilla will continue working on the release of Firefox 3.7. It's currently due sometime in 2010 and is expected to include the following features:

* Overall better performance
* 25% reduction in startup time
* Jetpack (new plug-in interface, easier and no restarting needed)
* 1st stage of Electrolysis (moving plug-ins into separate process from main browser)
* Weave (bookmark, password, plug-in, and open tabs synchronization)

thanks for the replies everyone, I decided on 3.6 as it seems to have most of the performance fixes that 3.7 has and is more mature code.

is noticebly more responsive than 3.5 and will see if it still suffers from the freeze issue that affects youtube etc.

I'd not bother with 3.6 or 3.7 yet:

3.6 is only in beta phase(5)
3.7 is only in alpha phase(1)

Which means 3.7 will be as buggy as hell and 3.6 a little better....but it is still a beta.

Incidentally - I get no freezing issues with Firefox and YouTube?

Ditto, I had a few problems here and there with 3.6, sticking to 3.5 now.

I think my firefox user profile going back to 2006 or so doesn't help, its probably quite corrupted in places but I am reluctant to start a new one and loose all my cookies/saved passwords because I simply can't remember them wink

With 4 tabs open my memory usage for firefox.exe is 183MB, takes a while to initially load up but once it's going it's fine.

It throws a right wobbler when I open browsing history laugh
