Apologies for misunderstanding your original query.

Can you not just use IMAP to maintain a synchronized copy of all your mail, sent and received, across all mail clients?

A misuderstanding of your OP. Again apologies. But, as I mentioned elsewhere, IMAP lets you do this without any complications.

I think it's a distinct possibility.

Someone suggested an email template on the desktop http://www.velocityreviews.com/forums/t468395-perman...

It's a very common question, but I haven't seen a free way yet http://en.allexperts.com/q/Email-3244/2008/7/Outlook...

There is a very expensive plug-in available http://email.about.com/od/outlookaddons/gr/auto_bcc_...

I'm glad it was a misunderstanding - I was beginning to think that the Thought Police were going to descend on me in droves!!! wink

To be honest, I don't understand IMAP!!

I've heard of it, but whenever I've tried to investigate it, I've been lost by the Jargon! frown

Basically the method that I've proposed I've used for years, & it works very well (using Thunderbird) - just can't figure out to configure Windows Live!!

However, if you can point me to something sensible so that I can configure something under IMAP, then that would be excellent!!

Wikipedia has a reasonably simple explanation if you ignore the RFC links. smile

As long as your mail provider provides IMAP access.
