IMAP and photographs

I am unable to view attached photographs on IMAP mail messages using Windows Mail and Live Mail. Is there something I'm missing. (Apart from the photographs )

A setting for "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened ...."?

Was unchecked, thanks. I get .pdf .doc files etc., but for some reason not .jpg.

No app associated with the jpg file extension? Check using Control Panel > Default Programs. Default is Windows Photo Viewer. It is also possible that the attached files are corrupt.

Default is Irfanview. I can view the attached files by opening with Irfanview. But they don't appear embedded in the email.

Ah! I thought you can't open & view the attachments, but you can.

It's having them embedded in the body of the email that you are querying.

Perhaps Irfanview isn't compatible with being embedded in emails. Try changing your Default .JPG viewer to Windows Picture & Fax Viewer or Windows Photo Viewer.

Are your mail client's security setttings the same as this?

Apologies, I didn't make myself clear. I've tried changing from Irfanview to all those listed under Default programs, when changing a file type to a specific program, without success.

I'm sure this worked OK in the past, but I haven't meddled with any settings in email, that I can remember.

Yes, identical.

So are these imageless emails coming from one contact or is it the same whoever sends?
