touchsceen option

I have just bought a desktop pc with windows 8 installed. My question is, to upgrade to touchscreen windows 8, is it a matter of buying a touchscreen monitor or one has to buy a new hardware?

Personally I don't think a touch screen "works" sensibly on a desp top machine.

I have Windows 8 on a laptop and find it "clunky" (it doesnt have a touchscreen).

I am a quite happy user of an Android mobile phone and an Android tablet - they do "work".

I can see how a machine with a detachable screen (such as the HP Envy x2) works with a detachable screen so it is either a tablet or a laptop but I still prefer the laptop (non touch screen) for most serious uses.

Maby I am stuck in the past!

Buying a touchscreen should work fine on any W8 PC.

The problem is that Windows monitors are around 90 degrees to a hand - so you either need to use the tips of your fingers to press the screen or twist your wrist (which could result In RSI). It would be even worse having to use it all day.

This is why touchscreens work well for tablets - its near 30 degree angle (if not totally flat) results in comfortable use.

Hand to monitor : Monitor is more or less vertical; hand is horizontal.

Why does advice on good posture for using a keyboard never have the heels of the hands resting on the desk? Having them in free air as shown in that picture is a sure fire recipe for aching arms and shoulders.

Its a rather old picture - probably wasn't thought of when it was created.
