IP address change

[link to this post]

What are the conditions of getting my ip address changed. We all know Zen only do static ip addresses i've had the same ip address since i signed up with Zen in 2003. I would like my ip address changed. And before anyone asks i have not been banned from any forums or anything like that i just feal like i want it changed. So what are the conditions for an ip change?. What does it charge and what are the conditions?. It's important to add that im on the Zen legacy 1mbit service my phoneline i dont think is that good and wont handle much over 1mbit anyway and i download quite alot so the old 100gb cap Zen enforce on the legacy services is perfect for me. My average download usage per month is between 60 and 80gb. So adsl max which zen have a max cap of 50gb for is not an option here so the ip change must not change my service or contract in a way where ill lose my 100gb cap.

Hi,

You would not be able to change single IP for single IP. You could regrade to a block of 8 (see http://zen.co.uk/Broadband/zenbroadband/upgrading-your-zen-broadband-service.aspx) for 25+VAT, but that should only be if you have a real need for multiple IPs. There really is no benefit in changing IP address (unless you have been blocked from something - in which case you should contact the third-party and resolve that issue).

regards,
Phil.

you missed the asterisk

"* Changes between 1 and 8 IP address assignments are free of charge if ordered within 30 days of initial service activation. After that the cost is 25.00 + VAT."

You could migrate out to an ISP with a month contract then migrate back in.

Yepp,

And then you could get a regrade to 8 IPs for free!

Surely by mentioning this to CS then they should regrade you to 8 IPs for free as it will costs them a lot more in admin and migration fees to migrate you back in than it costs to enable a block of 8 IPs on your account.

You don't even need to go through RIPE justification for a block of just 8 IPs.

Yes in that case he's stuck. Apologies for not spotting that in the OP.
