I thought they could have at least made an exception without effectively forcing me onto this new product.

Why should they make an exception for you, and if you were looking to migrate to Zen how were they forcing you to do anything?

Hello Njord. I can't tell you how Zen's MAX product works because I'm still on 'home 2000' which is superb. I can tell you their CS is excellent, they will answer the phone within a few rings and reply to your emails very quickly in most circumstances. MAX is affecting people in different ways and this applies to all ISP's not just Zen.

When you first wanted to migrate to Zen and they would not make an exception even for just the one day, well, that is how Zen work. They don't mislead you, they do not make excuses, just plain simple honest replies to your questions/request.

So, you may migrate to Zen and find your line connection is not better than it s currently, but I can confirm Zen will do everything they can to make it work to its best potential within the bounds set by BTw.

Don't forget you have the option of 'Active' at

Thanks a lot for that post djohn I appreciate it.

Not going to take the bate and post any derogotary statements to some people on here because I don't have time.

Blenheim, they weren't forcing me to do anything at all.... they were basically saying that I couldn't go on to the product I wanted to and because my exchange at the time wasn't enabled then really I would be paying

My service went live with Zen on the 7th of june. I assume now I'm off the 10 days BT "training period" unless it includes working days only...

So far I've had up to around 6Mbps and the worst I've had is around 3Mbps. To my knowledge my Linksys WAG354 router hasn't rebooted or lost signal/sync etc.

I've still to tweak Rwin and MTU settings, but as I've noticed MaxDSL can easily vary quite a lot in subsequent speed tests in a small time frame unlike my experience of fixed speed lines, getting the best settings will no doubt happen over time.

I know some people have had problems with MaxDsl across many ISP's, but so far I haven't had one problem. I am very pleased with the service.

Thanks Whatever..... I understand what you're saying and you make a fair point. I will carry on investigating things, but I'm certain it's not the exchange and it's only around the corner from me.

I think to be honest i'm worried about about the customer service I received and I'm worried things will gradually get worse at Nildram. I may be wrong and to be honest I hope I am because I think Nildram is still one of the top 2 tier adsl providers in the UK, but I'm very worried about their future and the fact that a lot of these problems I have encountered were there when I left Pipex in the first place. I will give them benefit of the doubt in some aspects though because this whole max thing has been a big shake up for nearly all ISP's.

And thanks Vorlon for that post it's appreciated, I'm glad you're pleased with the service you are getting. The best speed i've got to is about 5.5Mbps, the worst being under 1 Mbps on a few occasions when I raised a fault with Nildram, but normally the worst is about 2Mbps. I'm synced at 8128kbps all the time.
