I suppose with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, that they could have provided you a working BTW-backed connection on the 2nd port several weeks ago, and left you with an “experimental” service on port 1 for them to fudge about with to their hearts content.

They could have. I think the catalyst was the multiple day outage and the following awful performance that followed though.

I'm happy i have the bandwidth back though 👍

I noticed that my latency has jumped from ~6ms to anything from 12-24ms on Fibre 900. I've also noticed the gateways I connect to have changed. I fired off a support ticket and then started to do some googling and came across this thread. Lo and behold I've checked my orders and I was GEA migrated on the exact date this happened (TBB graphs and my Zen account match). I'm also getting pretty poor speeds now. Will see what support say but I'll likely find another 'gold standard' ISP to move to once my contract is up.

For the benefit of Steve who is keeping a rolling tally of failed migrations, where in the UK are you?

Log it with their support. They can fix this (roll you back to how it was before)

I have, let's see what they come up with. I'll scream into my desk if they blame my router or ONT.

OH Dear ! - So, it moves to Failed:4 Successful; 0

Important! Where are you please S2KIP?

So, what do we know?
1) GEA migrations at least sometimes don't go well
2) It 'may' be limited to the North West
3) The failure mode seems to cause packet loss, that is handled differently dependent on the connected TCP stack
4) Whilst we were originally told that the problem only affected two people *FakeJake and myself* - we now know that it is at least 100% more people than that
5) So far, we have only seen this affect higher speed FTTP packages, it would be really good to know if this is true or not (Is anyone having problems with the 100 or 300Mbps packages?)

I'm not sure when Zen will admit that there is a problem (publicly, as they have privately), but it seems to me that all people who have been GEA migrated should check their connections using Speedtest.net or fast.com over a few runs and let us know on this forum especially if the results don't seem right.

I note that Zen have said that is not their policy going forwards to un-migtrate people, but as they have been 'testing' (us poor guinea pigs) for over 3 months now, and they seem no closer to a fix. They should have actually performed proper systematic testing prior to switching this all live, and avoided reputational damage.

I note your intention to move ISP S2KIP, and I suspect other people will come to a similar conclusion unless this is properly addressed by Zen.

I further note that the guaranteed download speeds offered for the Zen FTTP packages is now a TERRIBLE 50% of the advertised headline speeds, viz 450Mbps on the 900Mbps package - does this tell us something? TalkTalk isn't even THAT bad !!!

There might be a glimmer of hope regarding that.
I haven't heard anything from anyone yet so it might not be a full fix, but for the first time since setting up the Samknows box on the migrated connection, it's started reporting test results of over 900Mbps since about 10:00 yesterday.

Prior to this it never really went over 80Mbps and had recently degraded to around 10Mbps.

Let's wait for a response from Zen, but I wonder why it has taken 3 months of OUR testing to 'help' Zen fix what should have been a full and properly tested rollout. Also, as in my post above, I question why a FTTP package would only have a guaranteed rate of 50% of its headline speed?

I'm in Gloucester, first hop still London but double the latency.
