half expected speed on fibre

[link to this post]

Hi ,
Yesterday i was connected to fibre with estimated speeds of 75Mb but my current line speed is only 38Mb .
Here is a bt speed test....
Download speed achieved during the test was - 36.61 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 12 Mbps-38.72 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 38.72 Mbps

Upload speed achieved during the test was - 1.83Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 2 Mbps

I live about 150m from the cabinet and around 400m from the exchange.
Any advice/help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
mark.

Looks like you're on the 40/2 package by mistake.

i've noticed more are popping up with the wrong package on plusnet, is this a growing trend, i hope not because i'm thinking of moving over to fibre plusnet 80/20.

about 24 hours usually but that is from 40/10 I don't know about 40/2 and I haven't seen any reports of people being put on 40/2 by accident as that isn't a current product so it sounds more like a BT screw up

We've got a problem open where a chunk of our new fibre installs are going in as 40/10. We're fixing the problem atm and we can regrade people straight over to 80mb once they have activated. That process takes about a day and the first set have already gone through.

Sorry about the problems here.

Is that down to someone selecting the wrong package on the dropdown list when making the order?

It's due to a bug in an automated order system, the majority of ones that have needed manual intervention have been placed on the correct speed.

I'm not sure. You may have to power it off/on.

And you may not. When I changed from 40 to 80 it just happened, I didn't have to do anything.

Ah, of course. The modem is probably synced at the full rate but the profile is capping the line to 40/2. So the profile just needs to be adjusted by BTW.

I had the same problem - provisioned on the wrong fibre speed. This morning my line is running at a much more reasonable speed 72.5Mbps down/17.8Mbps up. I'm 200m from the cabinet. I didn't need to reset the modem.

It sounds like you're heading in the right direction. What does the BTW availability checker say your line should be capable of?

Im wondering if this could be down to having the modem fitted to an extension,
but wouldnt expect to lose that much speed.

Same here, Openreach turned up yesterday evening (he was outsourced) and set me up, but my speeds are something like 37/9. The diagnostic Speedtest would not complete so I could not determine my IP profile, but I rang Plusnet, who have confirmed I am on 40/10. Apparently this wll be fixed for a number of customers on Monday, and I was added to this list.
