Home Hub Security Settings

[link to this post]

My Hub is due on Tuesday but I've been speaking to a collegue who's already recieved his.

He's saying all of the Security settings are now missing from the user interface.

The original manual I read on the BT web site said you'd be able to change the default settings to up the encryption from the default 40bit WEP to WPA-PSK or WEP 128bit etc. Change SSIDs and the like.

I've just been back to the Online PDF and the one I read is now missing and has been replaced with a dumbed down version that doesn't seem to mention these settings.

Has anyone else spotted the absence of these settings on the hubs they've recieved??

One setting I cant see is the update feature.

I thought the Update feature was an automatic thing rather than something that had to be configured?

On looking at the help screen, it shows where the setting should be, it's not there. In the user guide(page 20) it says,

What the Hub Manager can do

* see current Hub settings and status
* see what's connected to your home network
* change your broadband settings
* change your BT Broadband Talk settings
* adjust Hub firewall settings
* update Hub software
* back up settings

Can anyone confirm if you can or can't change the settings as per Eurobear's original question?

I can confirm that yes you can change security settings, I just changed from WEP to WPA PSK.

The web pages in this router are very poorly structured. I consider myself OK with such things, but in the end I telneted in and did it that way. Good luck if you want anything more than the default dhcp settings!
