Ill try to remember to take a camera next time im in that area
One of the boxes id estimate from glance is about 5ft tall and is almost cube like in appearance. (Not a perfect cube shape but close)
The other is 1-2ft shorter and more rectangular (if that makes sense, similar to some old style cabinets but slightly wider) in appearance.
Both are new to the area, so i assume they are for FTTC, some are positioned right next to old cabinets, some are a few metres further along the road. Most are within a few feet of current cabinets though.
The larger (cube like) ones seem to be in roads which have more homes than the shorter cabinets (that could just be my assumption though and totally wrong, i didnt spend time driving down each road near a cabinet obvioously)
You could be right, internally they may well be the same i hadnt thought about the technical side of things.
Totally possible its just the cabinet which is a physical different size but the guts are the same, one type may just be toughened in some manner due to being an area of vandalism, or even in an area where cabinets have previously been subject to other damage.
I know many years ago i lived on a busy main road, there was a 4 car pile up, one car which swerved crashed straight into a BT cabinet, a few weeks later they replaced it with something which looked alot stronger, almost tank proof like in appearance. Maybe they are doing something similar with FTTC cabinets!!
I imagine even if one cabinet serves more people than the other design the tech inside is basically the same, cant imagine them to be vastly different.
