Diagnostics is what you tell the family irrespective of what you are doing.

That's not really constructive criticism is it.
You have a specific problem with a webcam service, and as a result are now advising people to leave and go to Virgin ??

IIRC the problems with webcams etc are as a result of no port forwarding on the hub 3 (big fail) and if you replaced it with a different router it should work.

Have you got your old ADSLx router? If so, the following may work.

1) Do not connect it to the phone line.
2) Connect to its Setup routines (192.168.0.0/192.168.1.0/192.168.1.254 or similar) using an ethernet connection from your laptop, and disable DHCP in it.
3) Reconnect your laptop to the modem.
4) See if you can connect wirelessly to the old router.
5) See if connecting something else to it using ethernet allows the something to see the laptop or the laptop to see it. If so, alter the network settings in the laptop to allow others to connect to the internet through it, and alter the visible one to connect to the internet through a computer on the LAN, (the laptop). (Windows Internet Connection Sharing - ICS, in the Windows Help screens).
If, (unlikely frown), that works, see if something connecting wirelessly to the old router can also connect to the internet, with that same setting to connect through a computer on the LAN.

OK, good advice, a lot more helpful than, 'you need to cancel and go with Virgin'.

I have my old ADSL router but as the new hub is coming tomorrow I think I will just leave it. I'll look for a cheap cable router on Ebay incase my new Home Hub 3 proves to be as 'reliable' as its predecessor!
