As the title, contractors working outside my house as I type this right now.
Had the fibre coils of cable for a long time (years) hanging from the poles to our premises and now this happening.
I presume (guess) its where the fibre is spliced in readiness for the next step.
Anyone know exactly what it is and what stage we are at please.
Here is a picture.

Fibre joint housing its not a PON splitter but may have one cable incoming and multiple cables leaving
As for stage there is no 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 steps, the various steps can happen in any order.

Bit of an update, been out having a chat with the guy's and can confirm all splicing and CBT's etc have been fitted, with just another day to finish they pass it over to Openreach to commission and hopefully not much longer to wait.

Means a lot dect thank you.
I wouldn't care if I had better than 1Mb down and next to nothing up but getting FTTP delivered means a hell of a lot to me and the people in my village.
Thank you anyway.

I call it a village but probably more a Hamlett
Only about 30 buildings in it.

The picture of the pole belongs to Mr Saffron, I just used it because my pole has a similar device fastened at the top mate.
Sorry I'm not clued up with names of hardware and there terminology.
Chap told me he fitted a 12 port CBT as you call them, There are 4 houses all wanting fibre from this same pole pictured.

Well if the splice trays pictured are from the track node you first showed, then there are 8 lit ports on the CBT (connectorised block terminal) so twice whats needed, for now.
The other trays are feeding on to further track nodes.

Gotcha. Must have been 8 port then, I was busy feeding tea and biscuits and keeping in the good books.

Nope, quite usual not to splice through all the ports on a larger CBT.
|
|
|
|
At a TJ all ports would be spliced through (well should be), only at the splitter might 8 be spliced out of a potential of 12. Otherwise to light another port not only would you need to splice in splitter but also in every TJ.

That hasnt been my experience.

Maybe not, but definitely planning policy.

Do you know how long it takes to commission the FTTP?
Ive had openreach lay fiber in my street the begining of January, they have been back a few times, and i noticed near the FTTC cab they have had about 30m of ducting installed.
I've seen them in the manholes splicing fiber. just waiting on it showing as able to order online, but checker still states there are no plans to upgrade
just wondering if there is a long wait before they hand it over to BT etc.

I was told 2 to 3 weeks but please don't shoot the messenger.
Will obviously update when things happen as and when.

Saw some with the light test done, i.e. all fibre in place and lit from exchange but took 4 weeks to appear as ready to order.
Some areas they wait for a wider area to be available before releasing it to order, and others seem to be more piecemeal

okay thanks. hopefully wont be too long for me either, but then again everytime ive asked openreach online they have said no plans to upgrade my street.
Yet i spoke to the engineer doing it and he said should be ready to order in a few weeks, this was back in January. Since then they've probably hit a blocked duct and had to get that installed.
so fingers crossed it wont be too much longer!

A PON can be commissioned within around 48 hours from submission internally to showing availability externally as long as no issues identified during commissioning stages.
