Will my connection be exactly the same?

[link to this post]

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time caller smile Hope everyone is having a good start to the year!

I'm currently on 80/20 FTTC with Pulse8, who resell TalkTalk Business. Looking at the price difference, £14 a month between Pulse8 and TalkTalk Business, I'm considering moving to them directly.

With the 24 month contract, however, I'm a little nervous. The quality of the connection has been superb - will it be exactly the same? Is there anything Pulse8 are doing that makes it any better a connection?

Thanks in advance

Will saving 50p a day really help in the long term? unless things are really tight i would stay with a TTB based service.

It should be roughly the same but make no mistake it is a lesser quality service when it comes to faults, backhaul and customer service.

Thanks for the reply epyon!

Sorry, I'm not sure my initial post was clear enough. I'm on a TTB reseller, and considering TTB direct - not the TT residential service.

Unless I've misread and TTB direct means a different backhaul?

Thanks again!

The connection speed won't change, but you won't know if the same level of backhaul capacity is available.

It is possible the pulse8 is more per month because they are buying a higher grade of service, or its possible they may be exactly the same. A question that only by trying will you learn the answer too.

Used to be with TalkTalk Business as a direct customer for a few years, no issues at all & got a rock solid connection 24/7. Phone support is pretty good too, all UK based and many of their staff are ex-Zen employees. Only left them as they didn't offer FTTP but will happily return to them if/when they start selling Openreach flavoured FTTP smile

Btw TTB let you leave penalty free (even if in mid-contract) if they can't fix any speed related issue within 30 days, as per Ofcom Business Broadband Code of Practice and their support staff are well aware of this:
