Can I please give you some advice?

Please sanity check what you say in your posts as some of the stuff you have posted in the last couple of days is beyond belief (e.g. getting calls/emails from Clive Selley, Subnet Masks of 255.0.0.0 and now this), You're already getting a reputation here for [censored] and if you don't change your ways no one will ever take you seriously.

I think you'll find that most people on this forum know how to haggle.

Was Eclipse Home Option 1, VM 2Mb & O2 Standard
Utility Warehouse (up to 16mbps) via Talk Talk, upgraded to fibre 40/10

Ah but do they know that if Clive says Openreach are coming in 2 years, it is gospel. Th great one has spoke. They will quiver with fear at losing ALL their customers and they will drop their trousers to keep the business....yeah I know 😂

Ok thanks for your message I will scrutinise what i say, as I know I am not always very clear and can sometimes make things confusing and unclear.
I do want to apologize however I want to assure you that what i said about Clive Selley was genuine and did happen and i have proof of it the only reason I did not provide any was firstly because i had no method to share it and secondly was because i did not want to censor out all of the personal information which i take extremely seriously.

I also don't think what i said about the Subnet mask was clear either i used that subnet as an example I would never use that subnet unless there really was a reason for it that i will insite even 255.255.0.0 is massively overkill and pointless for what i said but its purley an example I only implement things after testing and ensuring its suitable The most i would implement for my network if i ever did use a Multisite VPN would be a class B 255.255.240.0 so I could easily handle 4094 hosts and I'm extremely sorry about not being clear all i was trying to give an idea rather than my particular case.
I do understand what your saying and I will check everything and research everything in advance before responding as i sometimes forget what's what and its all a blur.
I'm sorry everyone

Many Thanks,

I know one thing I hope VM keep their international hotspots as we all do so much traveling these days don't we ha ha. I mean if they become part of telefonica I see free international calls, texts and data or at least i hope so.
VM won't become part of Telefonica as both Telefonica & Liberty are contributing their UK assets into a new UK company that will be owned 50/50. This is a common way to do it, but also gives Telefonica some income.
Orange / EE both work extremely well with the VM virtual network when moving around different countries at the moment while they use the EE network.
Too late, like Asda, VM have moved to Vodafone, so the roaming between countries will be the vodafone roaming. Whilst VM has their own SIM cards and UK core network, for roaming they will rely on their mobile network supplier.

Note - There is no orange in the UK anymore, that was disbanded, the old transmitter code 234-33 has been switched off. EE is using the old Tmobile code (234-30) and is now 100% owned by BT plc. Orange branded PAYG SIMs have been force migrated or cancelled, as Orange SA withdrew the permission to use the brand. Hence all the EE shops removed both Orange and Tmobile logos. (Interestingly german TMobile has kept a shareholding in BT plc).

(one of the guesses why VM has moved to Vodafone is that they want to compete with BT plc).
I know the Vodafone sims which virgin are now offering are not great in europe as they are paired with SFR (know for being the worst network for service and customer service, worse than virgin media(might be why they joined forces(to spread the misery)))
All my friends active accounts have moved to Vodafone, maybe yours has, but you have good Vodafone signal in the UK?

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

I really appreciate what you have told me about

I was not aware how this was done and gives me some understanding.

Thanks for letting me know about the Orange network the strange thing is that old transmitter code still seems to be on the cell maps I saw a couple of weeks ago so they don't seem to update those a lot.

Yeah i have a vodafone and EE mast next to my house its really good like i know i am still on the ee network however as one spot which has vodafone signal and not EE is still dead so not sure what's happening there.

Do you know if they do some kind of remote update to change it over or do they send new sims? This would be my first network swap that has happened so I'm not sure?
Anything you know is appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Depends whom owns the map, but cellmapper is crowd sourced. The merger was 2011, so we are 10 years on, and the Orange network was pretty much turned off in most of the country by 2018. The BT purchase was in 2015

If you had the swap to the purple SIM a couple of years ago, you're on the VirginMobile run core, so the switch is done in software. Some people whom have poor Vodafone signal have been quite upset!

I only got virgin mobile in the summer of 2020 as that's when virgin media gave it to me for free as they stuck it on unlimited and i had had congestion issues dropping to 50MBps so not that concerning (not to the extant that i now have which is below 10 and sometimes 1).

I assume it's a purple but don't really want to check as I have had issues with the sim losing connection completely when i first set it up and had to reset software and it took ages and with Virgin Medias support you can guess that ages was a little longer than most.

I'll be honest with you I like being on the EE network for a variety of reasons
The signal where i am is decent according to the ofcom mobile checker its 3RD in coverage O2 First then Vodafone after that EE then Three is is all 3G and you have to literally move around to get signal and if your inside well no phone calls without WiFI.

My only concern is that I go to places where there simply is no Vodafone signal at all where I had two sims prior one on Libera which uses vodafone and one on EE (Virgin) so I had failover so i could make phone calls and use backup data if needed.
However i guess this is made up with the increased coverage inside buildings that i am often in which never had any coverage with any other provider except them.

Well i guess all we can do is hope for the best and see what happens.

I guess the competition is a good thing, no point paying your rivals I know i wouldn't, i know if I was making the choice out of all of them I would rule out three as my experience says it all really.

Do you know how they are choosing the switches for customers do you think mine should have been done already as i'm a little concerned that the sim could have issues as it has been acting odd.
For example if i turn wifi off and make a phone call i cant use mobile data things like that.

Many Thanks,

you should be on the new one.

Er no, all 4 networks have a full 4G deployment. All 4 networks have reduced capacity on 3G and using the frequencies for 4G.

Well i guess all we can do is hope for the best and see what happens.
If you've not used Vodafone for a few years (that you know of) then you will be happy to things have changed a lot. Assuming you are using a 4G phone.

No, I don't even have a VM SIM, I buy from the 4 real networks, don't bother with the virtual offerings.
For example if i turn wifi off and make a phone call i cant use mobile data things like that.
That happens normally if you are on 2G but could be an incompatibility if you have an older Android at a guess.

You’re obfuscating or avoiding the question.

Which provider in London is providing Gig FTTP for £20?

Might as well abandon our rural office and move down south if we could get that kinda speed for that price! laugh
