If you had the swap to the purple SIM a couple of years ago, you're on the VirginMobile run core, so the switch is done in software. Some people whom have poor Vodafone signal have been quite upset!
I only got virgin mobile in the summer of 2020 as that's when virgin media gave it to me for free as they stuck it on unlimited and i had had congestion issues dropping to 50MBps so not that concerning (not to the extant that i now have which is below 10 and sometimes 1).
I assume it's a purple but don't really want to check as I have had issues with the sim losing connection completely when i first set it up and had to reset software and it took ages and with Virgin Medias support you can guess that ages was a little longer than most.
I'll be honest with you I like being on the EE network for a variety of reasons
The signal where i am is decent according to the ofcom mobile checker its 3RD in coverage O2 First then Vodafone after that EE then Three is is all 3G and you have to literally move around to get signal and if your inside well no phone calls without WiFI.
My only concern is that I go to places where there simply is no Vodafone signal at all where I had two sims prior one on Libera which uses vodafone and one on EE (Virgin) so I had failover so i could make phone calls and use backup data if needed.
However i guess this is made up with the increased coverage inside buildings that i am often in which never had any coverage with any other provider except them.
Well i guess all we can do is hope for the best and see what happens.
I guess the competition is a good thing, no point paying your rivals I know i wouldn't, i know if I was making the choice out of all of them I would rule out three as my experience says it all really.
Do you know how they are choosing the switches for customers do you think mine should have been done already as i'm a little concerned that the sim could have issues as it has been acting odd.
For example if i turn wifi off and make a phone call i cant use mobile data things like that.
