FTTP Migrations, overnight or random time?

[link to this post]

Hi all, migrating from existing BT FTTP via Sky to BT FTTP Aquiss tomorrow. Does anyone know if there’s any common times for the switchover (perhaps overnight in small hours) or can it really just be a random time in the 24hr period?

I won’t be home after 8am, so worst case will have to preconfigure router and hope I have all the settings right. Otherwise will have to sort on Monday. Best case, is there a good chance it’ll have flipped over before getting up 6/7am?

Thanks for that, I’ll take a look first thing tomorrow and fingers crossed. Not the end of the world if it doesn’t happen in time for our departure really, but would be nice to remote control lighting and view cams while we’re away.

I am considering moving from Sky FTTP to EE or Aquiss, how long was it from you placing to ordering to a date for migration?
Just looking for the rough timeline.

Thanks

If it’s all there, then they should be able to migrate you in around 10 days. Caveat being with the higher speed tiers on EE (like the 1.6 Gbps tier) which require an ONT swap and some more provisioning work centrally.

For me it was around 10 working days.

Placed order in evening of 10th October.
Got confirmation on 11th October with 25th as switchover date.
Sky went nuts sending me texts, email and a call to try to persuade me not to switch.
Had a few texts from BTOR asking me to confirm I have a working ONT (I do).

Just noticed the email from Aquiss does say service expected to go live between 8am-6pm so maybe it won’t happen overnight?

Thanks! I wondered if the OTS changes had made it much quicker now but 10 working days isnt bad.

I am not moving just yet but looking at options. EE isnt bad when I factor in the kids mobile service as well but right now my Sky deal is pretty crazy good although thats ending.

It’s been a very smooth migration so far (touch wood). I simply ordered through Aquiss and they’re handling it all.

Ultimately what won me over with Aquiss was 6 months half price and short 12 month contract. I can’t really go wrong - either I value it and stick after only 12m or I go elsewhere.

For anyone reading this, the migration did indeed happen over night.
Woke in the night at 4:30am issue and noticed no internet, reconfigured router and it started working straight away on Aquiss.

Some providers use dummy PPPoE credentials;
When I migrated from Cerberus FTTP to TalkTalk Biz some years ago, when the ~1:00am migration happened, the Cerberus connection dropped. The router auto restarted the PPPoE sign in and it restarted and it came back up 12 seconds later on TTB using the old (Cereberus) PPoE credentials. Technically there was nothing to do 😅

That situation to be fair may have changed now.
