AVOID ORANGE LIKE THE PLAGUE

[link to this post]

Do not touch these people at any cost.

After a couple of weeks of speed issues, and constant requests for me to "call back in 48 hours" I requested that my account be closed so I could migrate elsewhere.

Orange advised me that this had been done. I asked for my MAC code, and was told I did not need one as the line had been cancelled.

It turns out that as a result I will be without broadband for at least 10 days. No email, no intermet access, nothing. I had explained I wanted to transfer to another provider, and had I been given a MAC code then this would have meant an hour or so downtime.

Instead, it seems they have acted with spite, and basically chocked up the line for 10 days so I have to suffer!

BT said that no such request had been made and I should call Orange back and ask for a MAC code. I did this but Orange insisted a line cancellation had been requested that could not be reversed. they admitted they did not know why the particular chap I had spoken with had done this. They would not give me his full name so I ould complain, they can only give out his name with his permission.

All this after the joke of the "Technical Support" I received from India, simply put I recommed that you do not enter into any agreement with these people, should you be considering doing so.

HI,

Thx for this insight. I just hope this doesn't happen to me.

They are the most unhelpful people out there. I think you can get compensation if they did this, pls write to thier managing director.

I moved to this company thinking it was "Orange", but I regret it. Don't know why a company like this would want to losse thier reputation in offering such a bad service.
I have decided its better to pay the extra

I know what you mean when you say "Orange".

I've had a mobile with them for 2 years and the service was always good. I have around 11 months to go on that, and will definitely be going elsewhere for my mobiile next time. And that is solely based on this Broadband experience as, to be fair, the mobile service is good.

I am also going to be paying a lot more when I change ISP. I currently pay Orange

You are not kidding mate I have had no reply from them in 5 days,I have had speeds actually the same as 56K dial up.
I will be cancelling but like yourself I know they will F*** up my MAC Code and I will lose out on 4 months subscription.
I hate Orange.

Stnuik, Do you have ask for permission before you start recording the phone calls?
Everytime I ask them and say I will record the call, they say no.

I just checked the website www.orangeproblems.co.uk, and it seems this is an ongoing issue, and doubt it will be resolved soon.

I really need my internet and its effecting my work. This is what I might do, if I don't get a response from them I will go ahead and cancel. If they take me to court, I will use all these posts in the forum to prove what they are like. I have paid them an extra month in advance, but guess what I have thier LIvebox, so if they don't refund that money I won't give the live box, and most probably sell it on Ebay!
What do you think guys?

I have to suffer 10 days without the internet, but its better then ongoing torture.

You probably do need to ask, but I would do it anyway.
If they say no what are they hiding?

the recording of any conversation has to be notified to all parties prior for it to be legally binding.
