Virgin Media Master Socket

Hi. I've just moved house and I'm getting broadband installed this week. An engineer is coming to install the line. Currently there is an openreach master socket by the front door with a line that looks to be quite old. There is also a virgin media master socket in the living room with a line that looks to be newer. My question is can the virgin media line be used as my new line? I'm assuming even though it's a virgin media master socket it's still connected to the bt openreach network?

Virgin Medias phone network is totally separate from the Openreach network, so the two are not going to be connected

Thanks for clarifying. Always thought they used the openreach network for calls.

The thing to do, if there is an appointment booked, is to ask the installer to have the Openreach NTE in the lounge where you'd like it.
