You are mixing up Megabytes with Megabits.

ITs gone from 2-3mbs to 5mbs having plugged directly into router

What is "IT"? What exactly are you doing that was 2-3 and is now 5? You suggest this is a download but a download from where of what and using which software?

It is very confusing that you are saying the speedtest is over 200 but the download is 5 - the 200 is the download speed so we need to know what you are doing when you only get 5.

IT being 2-3mbs via tp link power line network via wifi. router is in cloakroom hence powerline adapters.
plugging into router directly with ethernet cable is 5mbs.
download from netflix and amazon.
no specific software just downloading from these sites.
it is confusing as one would expect closer to 25mbs with 200mbps!
not doing anything unusual. going to netflix/amazon to download and opening another google chrome tab and then downloads to view download speed.
been fine for years until new router was installed.
the old router was downloading at 5mbs via powerline network adapters and wifi

It may be a dodgy cat5e cable syncing down to 100mbits/s...... but untill we see some pictues i don't think we can resolve anything for the OP

do the tests without the powerline adaptors .

Please use

MBytes/s for Megabytes per second
Mbits/s for megabits per second.

a 200 Mbits/s service should give around 20 to 25ish MBytes/s download

idealy just screen grab and we can deduce properly
