Once we can change our own line profile it should be fixed

If target SNR margins weren't being changed unecessarily, there wouldn't be anything to fix.

Today however, my router connection has dropped from 12Mbit to 8Mbit and my downstream SNR has gone from 6dB to 12dB.

Same here. I lost connectivity for a while last night and when the modem synced back up, SNRM had jumped up to 12db and my downstream sync has dropped from 20Mbit to 15MBit. Upstream has gone from 1020KBit to 859KBit.

Needless to say I'm rather unhappy with this...

It's hard not to assume a global reset of SNR has been enacted, on the TT exchanges at least. If so, then it would have been polite to have given warning.

I'll see what the ticket brings within the stated 72 hours (didn't that used to be 24?).

Hopefully the promised line options will allow reliable - and sticky - SNR targeting. I've a hunch my line may support less than 6db.

Think the people who are complaining of slower sync speeds are finding their SNR set to 12db. As mentioned in another post, mine has gone from 6db to 12 db.

So maybe the default for all users is an SNR of 12db?

My router is at the moment showing a download SNR of 6 db and upload SNR of 8.5 db.
Download speed synced at 14174 kbps and upload a miserable 803 kbps.

Think I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what can be done about my upload speed.

Can the upload SNR be tweaked seperately from the download SNR?

I have been patient with Coms, as sync and snr stayed the same when I was transferred to their network a week ago, (despite myaccount problems), I am on TT LLU at my exchange anyway. However was appalled to find they had reset my snr to 12db today and I had lost nearly half my speed. Rang the support line this evening and the lady reduced my snr to 6db. I usually run at about 4db via DMT tool, and put up with the occasional drop-outs on my long line.

So hopefully Coms will leave things alone now?

Glad to hear you've had results from support. Let's hope the service stabilises to everyone's satisfaction in the near future. I'm going to await a response to the ticket to gauge their reaction speed.

Though prepared to be patient, I retain a nagging doubt about the way the switch is being conducted. The communications and process seems piecemeal, especially since Coms took over ADSL24 many months ago. There seems to be nowhere online that clearly states the package I'm subscribing to.

Fingers crossed. If the worst happens, it's a monthly contract. I think...

they have amended my DD details too now, altho my calls log ( i have phone line with them) is incorrect ie: they are charging me for calls that should be in my "free minutes" allowance now. So will wait and see if this gets corrected without another call to support.

Not too bad for me strangely enough but my parents download speed is woeful. I've been transferring a file to them. only 50 MB but it's taking hours. Their line speed is acceptable but there's definately something not right with the network.

I was with them yesterday and ran a tracert to microsoft, was fine till it reached entanet then was just a stream of timeouts till it eventually failed. I'll give them some more time to get things sorted since the internet isn't vital for me but this is certainly not what we're paying for.
