Re: Problems on Plusnet

Hi all,

We've had some issues at one of the Sheffield data centres, sorry about all the hassle.

Our internal systems are back up now, and engineers are on site and investigating (service status will be going up shortly now we have access) but the majority of the services hosted there are still down - email and FTP/homepages - unfortunately.

We'll post updates but we'd also advise keeping an eye on the service status at http://status.plus.net or possibly the twitter feed at http://twitter.com/plusnet

Sorry for the hassle,

Data Centre Outage (56915)
Posted on: Wednesday 10 June 2009, 09:00
We are currently experiencing a routing problem affecting one of our core data centres in Sheffield.

This is causing problems for customers attempting to access our websites, their email accounts or their hosted webpages/FTP server space. It is also affecting access to internal systems for our support centre.

Internet connectivity and DNS should not be affected.

Our engineers are onsite working to restore service and further details will be provided as they become available.

Sorry for any problems this is causing you.

Kind Regards,

Bob Pullen

One can sign up to receive service reports at

http://usertools.plus.net/status/email.php

this way you can check to see if you are one alone or part of a major problem.

however you may need a back up dial up connection to get to your mail box if the ADSL network is significantly GordonBrowned

I have signed up, but when you cant access e-mails and you are unable to get on Plusnet web pages communications then tend to fail. Considering the fault started at around 0700hrs and the message from Plusnet appeared at 0900hrs its not helpful and this forum seems the only way to find out.

Regarding dial up, When its only Plusnet that's failed and the rest of the web is OK, why bother?

Hi guys,

As far as we're aware, everything should be back up and running again.

Apologies for any inconveniences caused.

The best option is to sign up with a non-plusnet email address. Then you should still be able to get the status updates, except in instances where the fault is preventing them being sent in the first place.

You could subscribe to our Twitter feed? We were posting updates there from about 7.30am onwards.
