cURL application in AOL d-link wireless router

Hi, im new to this so sorry if this has been covered. I have Norton 2009 on my machine which is up to date. Just installed the latest driver for the d-link modem from AOL's website. Once installed Norton flashes up saying SONAR has detected aol_broadband_installer.exe as a high risk and deletes it. Contacted Norton and they said its ok as AOL use the cURL application and is called "aol_broadband_installer.exe". They say my computer is safe but i am unsure. Can anyone on here reassure me and if its safe then :-

1. why would it delete it?
2. does my computer need this file
3. What exactly us cURL and what does it do?

1: Because Symantec are detecting a perfectly innocuous program as a virus. If you're cynical you might say this is to help increase their marketing numbers.
2: If you want to update your D-Link using AOL's software it looks like you do need it. There may be other ways to update your D-Link though.
3: cURL is a small program to download data or files; from web sites, FTP sites and lots of other ways. I use it in many of my business utilities because it's such a great little program.

Symantec is being over-active - there is no way they should be detecting cURL as malware. Here's a list of companies using cURL in a commercial environment. For every one listed there I'd bet there's at least 1000 not listed!
