My Talk Talk router pack has arrived today. I assumed it would be one of these Huangi ( or whatever) boxes, but it's a Dlink DSL2640R 4 port job.
Mind you I still can't register in the forums. My account number/phone number is unrecognised. Rather silly when there's a part of the forum for provisioning and order issues...

You are crazy, you went from BE to Talk Talk? You could have got cheaper line rental and better phone deals elsewhere, without going to Talk Talk. If it was a choice between BE and Talk Talk, Be would win for me.

Having said that, now I've discovered the poor security within Talktalk's organisation, I won't be using any of their services except for the broadband link itself. Helpdesk staff have access to email passwords!!!!
The broadband link and phone are working well.

Y&ou got to be very careful with Talk Talk, I know a few people who uses them just for phone calls and the cost of some of their calls are way over the top and also some calls they have not made are on their bills. Talk Talk have this habit of doing things like that. Saying that BT done that to me when I was first with them, that is why I vowed not to go back to Bt, but I did, well broadband only not land line.

Even if I could not get line rental as cheap as Talk Talk, I think I would prefer to pay a bit more and get a decent broadband service. Froe knocks the spots off Talk Talk, but then that is not difficult

Helpdesk staff having your password is not good. when I phoned up BT because they did not send me a password, they had to get a supervisor to get it for me as the helpdesk did not have access to that info.

Our exchange was LLu last year by Talk Talk and to be honest I expected a load of rubbish to come though the door and to be pestered by them, but I had nothing come though the door and only one visit and I told them what I thought of Carphone Warehouse and Talk Talk.

They still tried to get me to change over even after I tld them I was in a 18 month contract with BT and not even half way though. That is easy to solve they said, I could cancel it and pay the fee and would still save.

the other lie they told me is that someone down the road have signed up and will get 5Mbits and I will get it as well. Even with ADSL2+ we would not get 5Mbits here, in fact I expect it would be less than what I get since ADSL2+ don't work so well on long lines.

Hell would have to freeze over before I touch Talk Talk or any other part of the Dunstone empire.

I am with AOL using TT DSLAM Equipment and to be honest the service is [censored]. I am 100 metres from exchange and use to get 8Mb easy on BT IP STREAM now they moved me to TT Equipment and get no more than 2.2MBs since December 16th. Support staff say no problem. Load of [censored]

If you are talking line data rates, and you are as far from the exchange as you say you are, then you have a line problem. If you are talking speed tests, then they are often meaningless. If you are talking P2P data rates, then you could well be throttled by TT, and a good thing too!

I pay for a service which I don't receive. If I use P2P or not what has that got to do with anything. Just because I use P2P you think I should be penalised. There are legal ways of using P2P.

Ive never heard of a second level tech manager and along with 4 of his staff that didnt know what interleaving, BRAS Profile and a Stuck Profile are until I spoke to these clowns.

If I was to use P2P 24/7 then yes I would agree withthem throttling me but I dont. It all seems strange that since moving my connection on the 16th december and then all these problems started.

So, where is this 24Mb service. Just because the equipment supports it doesnt mean that AOL/TT offer it as a service.

All at AOL/TT are amatuerss from my experience. Cant wait to leave to be honets as I get no help from them to resolve the issue.

So it is peer to peer throttling which concerns you. Legal peer to peer use accounts for about about 5% of overall P2P traffic. The other 95% is stolen material.
