when is the best time to resync router

[link to this post]

my netgear 834g normally syncs at 2784 kbps
when i have to reboot it because of low snr it syncs at at lower speed
have tried rebooting, unpluging from mains, the only way i can get near to 2784 kbps is to unplug from bt socket for 5mins
also does it make any diffrence have router and dect phone pluged into same mains socket

If you re-sync when noise is at its highest, eg evenings, then you will get lower speeds but more stability. If you re-boot when noise is low, eg mornings, you will get higher speeds but greater instability.

On your line, which I'm assuming has an attenuation of 50-55db or so, you might benefit from a 2-Wire 2700 router.

The DECT phone shouldn't be an issue, but you can check whether it is by unplugging it before re-sync, then watching the noise margin when you plug it back in.

2-Wire is the manufacturer, 2700 HGV is the model. It's found on eBay, usually 20 or so.

Most people report improved performances on poor, ie long, line. I have a 57db attenuation and was using a Netgear which gave me a 2000k profile, with noise margin fluctuating wildly. Since moving to the 2700, I have had a 3000k profile, with noise margin generally flat, at worse -2db. YMMV, of course, but most people have seen a benefit from this router. Unlike the Netgear, I very rarely see the sync drop now.
