Because ADSL uses the same range of frequencies as AM radio (up to around 2MHz if you've a very short line).
Atmospheric changes starting at dusk (and ending at dawn the next morning) mean AM radio signals propogate further and this causes problems for ADSL in the same way it causes problems for AM radio (medium wave if you're old).
Nothing you can do about it (short of move to a different planet, or wait for all AM radio stations to be switched off).
