Just an update on my situation; no improvement at all, in fact today my connection has literally been unusable. I'm averaging 2 to 5 mins between sync drops and an export of my router log shows 104 "adsl link down/ppp connection down" errors recorded so far today.
Interestingly, today has been very wet and windy, which is lending further weight to an earlier hunch I had that this may be weather (and likely wind) related. A large tree grows very close to the pole across the street and it's branches have rather encased the top of the pole where the line comes out and across to my apartment building. It looks very likely that they would rub up against the line in windy weather - hard for me to know for sure though because my apartment faces out the back of the building, rather than out towards the street.
An OpenReach engineer is apparently coming to take a look some time in the next few days, so we'll see what transpires. I'm really at my wit's end here, this is incredibly frustrating.
