Really? That's interesting, I didn't know that! I'll do some research. I'm also expecting a call from them on Saturday so I might talk through my options. Thanks.

Just an update on my situation; no improvement at all, in fact today my connection has literally been unusable. I'm averaging 2 to 5 mins between sync drops and an export of my router log shows 104 "adsl link down/ppp connection down" errors recorded so far today.

Interestingly, today has been very wet and windy, which is lending further weight to an earlier hunch I had that this may be weather (and likely wind) related. A large tree grows very close to the pole across the street and it's branches have rather encased the top of the pole where the line comes out and across to my apartment building. It looks very likely that they would rub up against the line in windy weather - hard for me to know for sure though because my apartment faces out the back of the building, rather than out towards the street.

An OpenReach engineer is apparently coming to take a look some time in the next few days, so we'll see what transpires. I'm really at my wit's end here, this is incredibly frustrating.

Hi I've a similar problem which has been going on for approx 6-9 Months Engineers come shrug their shoulders and leave ISP tech wallahs say we will try some thing else but if there is an improvement it is very short lived. Many years ago I was in computing etc and one customer said as I installed the very latest bit of kit nothing electronic works in this office soon after I was called back and presented with a list of error codes produced by our system to cut a long story short I hired a mains analyser which produced a printout of mains fluctuations and spikes which went up to 400 volts noting the times which were spread throughout the day/night it became apparent that the spikes were caused by delivery lorries going over a damaged underground cable outside the office Southern Electricity when confronted by the printout dug a huge hole repaired the cable fixing my customers problems entirely. In order to eliminate this I'm considering powering my router from a car battery thus eliminating any form of mains interference.
