Re: Hey!Broadband

Well as of 8:55am this morning, my connection is now completely dead. My router can’t even start a PPPoE session.

Can't work, not happy.

Edit: 9:21am it just came back and I can see HB have updated their Network Status page

Here's my last 24hrs of WAN performance. Last night was actually quite good in the SL9 area until about 22:30. I could stream and game without issues. However after that overnight performance seemed to drop again. That hasn't happened before. Can't be a capacity issue as everyone is asleep!! -

Overnight WAN Performance - https://imgur.com/wlWJJT3
Overnight Latency & packetloss - https://imgur.com/CEP5FnM & https://imgur.com/iJJfZI4

Edit2: I did raise a loss of service request on their main support page using the web form and I am receiving SMSs regarding the outage....so that's good.

Connection just went down for ~2-3 minutes. I've had to switch over to my AAISP connection as I need to get work done and can't get stuff done with the drops / packet loss right now.

Further, just sent a third e-mail to support. Still no automated reply.

May I ask what you're using for tracking your download / upload speeds and latency / packet loss?

I'd like to run something similar to monitor both my connections smile

You can use the Broadband Quality Monitor on this website, and I also use the Cloudflare speed test as it measures packet loss & jitter as well as speed. Be aware if you use the BQM you have to open your router/firewall to respond to ping (instructions are on the site).

My connection was perfectly fine all through the peak period yesterday, but I did get the usual 2am issue. Also showing a bit of packet loss this morning, but the connection seems fine with normal speeds at the moment. I just got an SMS from HB (I'm in HP12):

Hi xxxx,

Looks like there's a technical issue in your area affecting your broadband service. We've found the issue and our engineers are working as quickly as possible to get you connected again. For service updates, please visit our Network Status Page at status.heybroadband.co.uk

Sure - Linux and docker is all you need. I use Speedtest Tracker for throughput monitoring and Uptime Kuma for connectivity, packetloss and availability monitoring. The latter I run offsite to monitor my connection remotely.

Both are all automated so you set them up once and let them do their thing and they will automatically report back when thresholds are hit. Mine are both configured to send Push Notifications to my phone when there are problems and they keep a history too so in the event you need to report something to a Support Dept, you have historical empirical evidence to back up the support ticket. Helps keep your ISP honest laugh

Fab! Thank you! smile

I've got a small server with Linode, so I may well run the ping / packet loss monitoring from there.

Jumping on this thread with a random question.

Can anyone with an HB connection open this website: https://www.ksperiperipizza.co.uk/

If you're in HP12, you'll probably know the shop.

I can't even ping it on my HB connection, but opens fine over VPN.

They did some "external service provider maintenance" and said it should be fixed, but it's not...

Working for me, ping replies too, but I should note that I'm using Google and Cloudflare DNS, now HB's

Edit: Ignore the above, I'm still on my A&A connection *facepalm*

It does resolve to 213.32.66.237 though, yes.

Edit 2: Switched back to Hey, can confirm it resolves, pings and works here too.

Thanks both. Is it resolving to 213.32.66.237?

This is what it resolves to for me, and I can't ping it, either from my PC, or from my router interface.

EDIT:: I'm an idiot. The correct URL is ksperiperipizzas.co.uk

I was missing the final "s"...
