Network Server is very generic term doesn't mean much. Its like a mechanic saying he's fixing your car.

Page loading performance has a lot of links in the chain. Name resolution, end to end network performance and web server load are all contributing factors. Even how fast your local browser can render a webpage plays its part.

Generally speaking aside from running your own name server at home, using the major public DNS providers like Cloudflare will provide you the fastest name resolution as they have strategically positioned infrastructure to be 'close' to most people so they can be low latency. They also cache a lot of DNS records for fast response times. Using ISP provided name servers is considered bad from a privacy stand point.

In reply to a post by BiscuitBachchan:
May not affect everyone but

Planned maintenance email for Wednesday 31st early morning 1am-2am
HP13 .

I got this email too (HP12). Given that everything seems to be working OK at the moment, I really hope this "maintenance" doesn't make things worse...

So the overnight maintenance happened. Despite not receiving any email of planned work, there was an outage to service 12:30am to 12:46am this morning.

I'm also seeing a slow return to the 2pm and 2am performance drops although its not consistent or regular at the moment.

I have sent this to support for their review.

My latency certainly got worse: https://imgur.com/rIgi39E

If it's not broke, break it.

Looking pretty terrible here again! smile

although my peak time latency is being investigated, it seems to now have some lovely packet loss with it after last nights work.

I won't disrupt this thread but if you dont mind, I would ask that the clever techy people here, take a quick look at my related Q here:

All ideas appreciated!

Another day and another outage, This time due to the lovely supplied router.

So my setup is:

ONT Box, AdTran 854-v6 Router , TP link Deco mesh in AP mode.

The reason im not using bridge mode is that I ported over my landline and the router has the sockets so i can use the standard phones. Landline still very useful for elderly parent who lives with me plus our home number is nearly 40 years old so did not want to lose it.

1pm yesterday noticed no internet from the mesh

Tried to login the Hey router on router.local and the 192.168.1.1 and would not log in ( partial login screen then froze ) . ONT had 3 green lights and power cycled the router few times. Same problem.

Phoned support who picked up quickly and they could not log in and looked like router had a hardware level crash and could not be recovered. Told they would call me back, mentioned i could reset to default pinhole reset but they said no,

Waited 3 hours no call back ( No internet and its half term ) so did a hard reset on router and all working again. So router for some bizarre reason was fully locked and only option to resolve was factory reset.

Had to call back again to get my phone line re-enabled. But they were not happy i did a factory reset on the router even though they potentially wanted me to wait up to 48 hours for a call back.

Bit worried about the router if it can just flake out like this and even a normal power of and on does not resolve it.

Telephone support were quick to pick but feel like they need more training and potentially more rights to do their job more efficiently, Management or service desk team leader fault. Mentioned there is a new firmware being released in the next few weeks ( testing )

Also Does Hey broadband support IPV6 as its enabled on the flaky router but doesn't seem to work https://test-ipv6.com/
