Echoing feedback

[link to this post]

My wife's standalone tower-type pc (broadly to the same spec as mine below) has a decent webcam on it, with built-in mike, a Philips Tucan, & it all works just fine on the freebie version of Skype.

My pc lacks a webcam but has a dynamic mic and a switchbox which allows me to easily mute the speakers leaving the earphones active. btw I can also mute the mike on same if I wish. I have manual volume controls on the switchbox for the speakers and an in-line manual control for headphone volume too.

Excellent clarity from me to New York State stepson, he tells me, even better than the built-in mic on my wife's webcam. Not so easy for me however as my reception (thru the headphones or speakers) produces a half-second-delayed echo of myself to myself. My reception of his speech is perfect. His reception of my speech is also top-class

Both my wife and I mute our respective speakers as they produce their own echo which the mike picks up to irritate the other end.

To clarify, I annoy myself with hearing my own delayed voice thru the headphones. Can I do anything about this? Thanx. Bruce +++

You may have the answer from your post ....
.... If your speaker irritate the other end, then their speakers could be what is irritating you.
