BT then EE Voice Problem

[link to this post]

A friend had BT VDSL and was offered BT's Fibre with BT Digital Voice. Once connected he was shocked at what he was paying per month compared to before. He phoned BT and complained and was offered a transfer to EE at lower cost which he accepted.

Anyway what he now suffers from vary between his hone ringing and no one there, making an outgoing call, the calling parties phone ringing but then loosing the call after speech has started.

This all happens when using the BT supplied BT Digital Voice phones. He has had his router swapped but no difference. EE's advise was to reboot the router. He has found that plugging in an old analogue phone into the rear of the router appears to work ok.

His house is of typical 1980's construction.

Previously with pstn, he used cordless phones which worked ok.

What next? Can you get a booster for Digital Voice - in the same way as you can with a wi-fi booster?

Cheers!

Could plug the base station for the cordless phones into the socket on the back of the router, and ignore the "digital voice" handsets?

Shame the audio quality is poor, but the "great switch over" to internet voice wasn't meant to be a way for the telcos to sell everyone new home phones.... frown

That was my first idea, but my friend was so sold on the new idea that he gave his cordless phones away... I did originally suggest that since OR disconnected his copper connection that he simply connected a 431A plug to plug cable between his router's TF outlet and his nearby phone socket and use his cordless phones as before, that's when he said he np longer had them...

Cheers!

Random thought but are the EE branded handsets different to the BT branded ones in any way perhaps?

Is he using the BT Hub and BT Handsets?

CJT.

Currently on Aquiss FTTP 550/70

Previously on NOW TV Broadband up to 38 Mbps, then BT Broadband up to 80Mbps, then Pluse8 Broadband up to 80 Mbps, then Hyperoptic 100Mbps, then TalkTalk Fibre 150 (G.Fast).
