Currently with an Entanet reseller and would like to move to another supplier.
Market 1 exchange so no LLU
Heavy user, 100GB plus in off peak periods. 10 - 15GB peak usage on average.
I know it's a bit of a tall order with no LLU
Took a look at plusnet unlimited and it looks like a reasonable deal for a heavy user, any other members on here to confirm that?

See Plusnet's traffic management tables.
If you could reduce your peak usage then AAISP Pro is good. There is also a short over-night unmetered period.
Have a look at Xilonet, possibly ring and discuss your needs with them. They seem to be flexible.
And of course O2 Access gives you exactly what you want. The question is what the performance would be like . They have a history on Access of heavy congestion for 10 weeks, additional kit so fine for 3 weeks, then downhill for 10, then ....
However may be worth a try for a month. They have a 30-day money-back guarantee. Except there wouldn't be any money to get back as they currently offer the first 3 months free. Combine that with £50/45 cashback from Quidco and you may wish to consider it. If you do then you need to have a look in their in-house forum to see how things are these days.

Looks like I'm staying with Entanet until I move then...their new ALT is killing me even though I am well within my monthly usage.
Xilonet non-LLU packages are awful, AAISP peak usage is a joke and 02 Access looks like a circus.
Guess I already knew I was [censored] by living in the middle of nowhere.

AAISP peak usage is a joke.
Not really, if you work during the day which I do. I'd rather have these limitations than be with a crappy ISP.
People have to realise that the days of massive peak/off-peak allowances and/or unlimited are over and this is one of the sacrifices you make in order to retain a quality ISP.

EDIT: Just checked the resellers section. I can see that moaning about entanet is now standard practice! Sorry for ranting about something you must all be bored with by now
There's more than one user of my line so the peak usage just wouldn't cut it, there never have been massive peak usage allowances on any of the ISPs I have ever used. I understand this.
Entanet off-peak used to be great on my 30/300 package but then they stopped communicating, became less open, introduced a new ALT and decided not to tell anybody what the off peak usage limits would be. They pretend that off peak is unlimited but I now get pushed on to their new ALT at half the previous usage, not good.
If the days of good off peak allowances are over why on earth do think that any of these ISPs are "quality"?
So we now pay more for a worse service and we're supposed to just shrug our shoulders?
Not getting at you white43, I just feel that we're all being shafted here and just accepting it.
Sorry for the rant

I'm in much the same situation, fairly heavy user currently on Entas Office135 at £53pm just so my autistic son can stream movies, videos and play World of Warcraft. But after 2 months of everything being OK I've picked up 4 black marks in the last 2 weeks, the last one for downloading 384Mb at 9pm on a Thursday night!.
My only options are to either move to Zen Unlimited at £83pm or to Web Tapestry who are an Enta L2TP reseller (so same ISPC connection to Edinburgh but no ALT applied) at £78pm. Not much of a choice for a disabled single parent with 3 children to feed

We have just introduced a selection of high use products, these are not cheap but the allowance can be used at anytime, not just off peak.
The info is available at http://4thenet.net/broadband/4thenet-high-use/

Of course, only based on what you've been currently paying Enta
Only main difference is that we don't have an ALT, or 'black mark' system - so you could actually use all your data without being rate limited to stupid speeds when your local node is busy!

If you're the unlucky majority that can't get cable or LLU then yes.
Goodness knows how anybody can say positive things about the state of Internet access in the UK. It's honestly quite disgusting for most of us.
It's slow. It's unreliable. It's expensive. It's restrictive. Anything else?

Yes they are expensive
Nearest thing I can find so far (apart from Web Tapestry or Zen) is Gravity Internets ADSL Basic Max, says "No download or p2p limits" and I can't see anything in the AUP which gives any figures, at £39pm (I assume plus VAT) it looks like an option unless of course anyone knows something I don't?

The big problem we have is infrastructure, in comparison with other developed nations that is . I understand that this is not the fault of the ISPs as BT sets the agenda and everybody else just has to react.
Will check out the other suggestions made on the thread. Thanks for the help.

Yep.
I agree there isn't much around for you in the market.
Not many supercars available to me either.

What I'm getting at is that ISP's offered a 'numbers game'. They deceived us into believing they could offer an unlimited service. Others, with a hefty download limit. The numbers game - was the fact that they thought that we'd never use the full limits - when we started to actually use the limit, they quickly realised they were in deep sh*t.
So what we're getting now is a pullback to what they should have offered us in the first place. Yes, it sucks and they should have done this in the first place - but some ISP's have only ever offered this in the first place and when I say 'quality', I mean that only a handful of ISPs are offering certain products - with great support, but with limitations in terms of when you can download etc. I'll take that any day over an ISP which promises 'unlimited' with crappy support.
I too was on the Enta 30/300 and it was a sad day when that came to an end - but this is it now, if you can't get LLU or WBC. If we want to continue to get any sort of decent download or service, we have to accept limitations. Sucks yes.

I'd still call them all slow, unreliable, expensive and restrictive just because they're based on BT Wholesale and ADSL which gets delivered over decrepit copper lines.
You could pay an arm and a leg for a connection from any of those and still not have any guarantee of getting a decent speed, even with a 'capable' line.
Let's face it. Those of us without LLU or cable get ripped off quite nicely, and it's not as if LLU or cable are anything to brag about anyway.
There's no trusting providers these days when they can pretty much get off with providing you with whatever shoddy service they feel like. So many of them don't even seem to stick to their own 50:1 contention ratios. My provider is pretty much certain to be guilty of going grossly over that number.

There's no trusting providers these days when they can pretty much get off with providing you with whatever shoddy service they feel like. I wish you would stop making comments like the above as though it applies to all retailers reliant on BT Wholesale.
Your posts as a whole read as though it is the case.
It clearly isn't. The ones I listed try, with varying success, to provide a good service. All of them are far better then BT or most of the big players.
I agree BT Wholesale could be a lot better. Our local newsagent would be a darn sight better as well if Smiths were not the monopoly newspaper wholesaler that they are in most of the country.

Hmmm. There's a world of difference between Orange/Tiscali/Virgin ADSL and AAISP/Zen/IDNet.

I was going to point out that I wasn't saying that all ISP's are out to provide a bad service and are limited thanks to BT Wholesale, but I didn't really think that was needed.
Regardless of that though, I still believe the post is valid.

Yes, I'm aware of that. Like I said though, since they're tied into using BT Wholesale my comments still apply regardless of what ISP it is.
