FTTC/ADSL Not Available

[link to this post]

I entered my address in the list of providers search, and it shows numerous providers, but most of those listed show they provide ADSL or FTTC. This is not possible, as Openreach no longer allow connection to my local cabinet for new clients. The only broadbans available is FTTP.
I have confirmed this with NOW, who cannot change my copper connection to fttc, and they do not do fttp at all.

Are you in a stop copper sales exchange

https://www.openreach.co.uk/cpportal/products/produc...

What's Stop Sell?
The term stop sell is used by Openreach to signify stopping the sale of certain Openreach products. This is different from product withdrawal, as under stop sell, any end customer who already has the product, will be able to continue using it (until it is withdrawn).

If a product is impacted by stop sell1, this won’t just mean no new supply, but also, you won't be able to do working line takeovers, start of stopped lines, migrations, CP transfers, addition of broadband to copper voice lines, bandwidth modify, or addition of lines and channels to existing installations.

Currently there are two programmes for which stop sell applies:

FTTP Priority Exchange
WLR Withdrawal

Yes indeed, the stop sell applies to FTTC and ADSL at my location. Stop Sell does not apply to FTTP, nor to existing customers.
I am with NOW on ADSL Copper and wanted to change to NOW Fab Fibre but they cannot because of stop sell, and NOW do not do FTTP.
So, the Thinkbroadband list is not correct.

TBB put a lot of time and energy into updating their maps with *new* FTTP coverage info, but the stop-sell *withdrawn* side of things may not have had the same focus. Not sure how simple or difficult that may be for them - perhaps something you may wish to raise with the team.

In the meantime it appears that FTTP is your only orderable service - as it will be increasingly so for everyone in due course.

Yes, I will do that.
FTTP is my only option but I object to having to pay (twice what I am presently paying) for 200Mb/s when I need less than 10. That's why I was asking if it is possible to get it cheaper by accepting a restricted bandwidth.

Yes it is possible. Not sure what your bandwidth requirement is or budget, but there are lower bandwidth tier FTTP packages available from the likes of BT, Vodafone, TalkTalk etc…

Thanks, that's a help but , for example, TalkTalk are offering ADSL (at 3Mb/s), even though ADSL is not available.
3Mb/s streams SD TV without too much buffering, so maybe I'll just have to stay with what I have....until 2025.

Bandwidth 5 to 10Mb/s.
The lowest I can see is 50Mb/s and with anytime calls is twice what I'm paying now.

Have a look at 4G, there are low cost packages around with unlimited downloads. Watch out with Three as masts can get congested, you can get Vodafone sims with cashback dropping the price by nearly 50%, my last one was £17 per month at 50mbs, cheaper at 10mbs or 5mbs download with unlimited data. You can move your old landline number to sipgate or another VOIP provider and this will cease the ADSL and phone rental the same time.
