Hi-Velocity MAC Code

[link to this post]

Requested my MAC code from Hi-Velocity on Friday last week
till now i have not heard a thing from them

Sent the Request to Cancellations as per their Web site
also asked Accounts for confirmation they had received my Request

I dont expect much in life but i would have expected to hear something by now

Is this standard for Hi-Velociity ?

Seems to be, well it was when I was with them and it doesn't seem to have changed much since then

They did the same to me when i left. Only time i had issues with them.

I called on the 5th working day and the idot i spoke said "no we dont have to give you a MAC code within 5 days we just have to adknowledge the request" So i read them the right act and failed a complaint with offcom and emailed Anthony. MAC code arived within the hour.

A lot of recommendations are for Enta resellers. They only have a 1 month contract, but it all depends on what your requirements are.

The Entanet resellers (e.g. ADSL24, UKFSN, etc.) and NewNet, IDNet, Zen is a decent shortlist of the quality ISPs (non-LLU).

No particular wording that works with them... Constant daily pestering worked for me!

I was even given 2 different MAC codes... one turned up over 2 weeks after I migrated!!!

They tend sit on them for a while to scrape that little extra bit of cash out of you.

Your best bet is to copy any e-mails to Anthony (that's what I had to do to get mine when I left) as he is probably the most reliable person left at Hi-V. I waited 2 weeks and then copied my next mail to Ant and had a working MAC Code within about an hour.

Hi All,

I've tried to get my MAC code and it has been 6 working days now. I have emailed or phoned pretty much every day and given promises that it will arrive etc. Should I just complain to OFCOM?

I'm getting really P1553d off as I need to migrate ASAP. I guess the billing date is coming soon so they will probably release it then.

Any advice?

Cheers

Best idea is to e-mail Anthony and see if that gets you the required MAC code - providing you haven't e-mailed him already that is. That's how I got my MAC code when I wanted to move provider (prior to the new MAC code regs).

I'm surprised they are still going, tho according to Anthony's facebook page he is still "GOD" at Hi-Velocity! Yes, he really does say that!! We are facebook "friends" hahaha!

Maybe you should go over Ant's or James (real name Giulio) head and discuss your case with their wholesale supplier Viatel (http://www.viatel.com)... This is how I prompted them to eventually get my MAC.

I was asked to send them a fax (+44 (0) 870 803 1382), I followed it up with a call to confirm receipt, they seem a more reputable supplier (tho it isn't difficult...!)

Best of luck!

Re: Hi-Velocity MAC Code

[re: Dan_F] [link to this post]

Glad to see I am not the only one with a problem...

I have just written the following email to them:

To whom it may concern:

I have left two answerphone messages on your system after yet another day of failing to find a person to speak to at your company.

I have been trying since May 08 to get you to give me the Mac number I require to move. I have rung more times than I can recall and spoken to someone at least a dozen times in the ensuing period. Every time someone says "oh ye we can get that done by tomorrow " and then nothing. No one ever rings me back. I have been without service since the end of July and I have been told that you will test the line and get back to me, again no call back.

What is particularly galling is that your bills come in regularly. You don't appear to have a problem with that despite the fact that no one ever answers the phone in that department - or anywhere else in your company for that matter. You will remember that my last employer (whom I left in March of this year and with whom you have the contract) was slow in paying the bills. I agreed to pay one personally to allow you time to get my MAC to me. I did say that I only did this on a one off basis as your contract was with Cxxxxxxxxxxx, and it was for you to sort out everything else with them.

Since April, when we had the conversation until now you have given me a sporadic broadband service and non existent customer service. I understand now from Internet forums that I am not alone in this experience and I have already lodged my complaint with OFCOM and will forward a copy of this email to them.

I want my mac address now, today and without further delay. I have no idea why you have cut me off as you never communicate with me voluntarily, but you have no right to do so under the current circumstances. Will you please call me on my mobile as soon as you receive this email on XXXXXXXXXXX.

How the hell you manage to stay in business is beyond me...

The warning signs were there years ago when i asked for my mac and the likes of you never believed a word i said, because HV could do no wrong Funny how their forums have gone and no representation here, when it started to go pear shaped.

This is not intended to any staff or ex staff of HV. In fact myself and a member of staff have since made up our differences. I received a phone call two years later from this person and all is good.

The grief and accusation of lying, even when i had documented proof of everything that went on. I really did not deserve any of that, just because yours and others Internet connection was hunky dorey. Some of you treated me like dirt, when i was having major problems with an isp that got personal. Well where are you all now, still with your beloved HV, that can do no wrong?

Looking at the many posts of people having major problems getting their mac code and the language some have been subjected too over the phone. Are they all making it up too.

As I recall it there was no doubt about what HV had done. Mark had admitted to his part and apologised publicly at the time.
In reply to:

The reason you were accused of lying is simple. Its because you did lie.

You made posts on the forum detailing your own actions and language on the evening it all happened. Within an hour the posts were deleted and you denied all knowledge of them.
From then on you denied both the content of the posts and indeed denied any posts had ever been deleted.

That is what you were accused of lying about and indeed to this day I don't think you've ever admitted to it. Everyone else has apologised and got over it years ago.

If you lie on a public forum them you fully deserve to have the fact that you lied highlighted.

No-one ever denied the issues you had with HV were real.
In reply to:

Well where are you all now, still with your beloved HV, that can do no wrong?

My Broadband is still provided by HV. It works well and is good value.
Over the four + years I've been with them there have been issues and some changes but overall they've provided me with a better service/experience than other ISPs ever have.
I am aware that some customers have worrying experiences and fully understand that the situation is not perfect.
It may well be that the day comes when my connection stops working or I can't get my MAC and I'll be just as pee'ed off as others. Even if that happened tomorrow it wouldn't take away the years of value and service Ant & co have provided me with.

In reply to:

Looking at the many posts of people having major problems getting their mac code and the language some have been subjected too over the phone. Are they all making it up too.

No I don't think they're making it up. Clearly any customer should be able to get a MAC quickly and in a civil manner.

As a result of hearing of other peoples experiences I have not recommended HV to a new customer in a long time.

That is such a crock of poo. I never ever deleted lied or anything like that at all. You were a massive fanboy and were so deluded that you believed everything HV said no matter what, because you thought the sun shined out of their back side. Like i said . Marc and i have sorted things out, he phoned me up 2 years after all what happened and said he had to make things right morally, as it played on his mind. I thought that was really big of him and i forgave and even said if hes in the area, we can have a drink.

What got me is exactly what you have just done now. Told a total lie on something someone told you and you wholeheartedly believed it all. Why did you think Marc phoned me after 2 years. Penny dropped yet ?

In reply to:

Wrong again.
I've not based my opinion on anything anyone told. It is based entirely on the posts I read myself that night which were then deleted. You even posted a copy of a letter you were writing to OFCOM detailing the incident. It included the threats you made to HV and it and the other posts were soon deleted, no doubt after someone pointed out to you how poor your own actions were.

So the only thing my opinion is based on is what you told yourself.

I cant deny what never happened. When you delete a post your post stays and deleted appears. So did anyone take screen shots at the time to rub them in my face? No why, because there was none. I don't lie, i have never been a liar, and what gets up my goat is a total stranger on a forum saying other wise, why . Just because he had to pick a side and believe everything he was told with out no proof and then have the bear face cheek to call me a liar.

Of cause you got your opinion from what people told you, there is the problem

One day, maybe Marc would put the record straight and shut you and others up for good.

Ok this is pathetic you still can't admit your part after all these years.

You were the one who posted and pm'd the info, no-one else.

Thats not based on anything anyone else said or did but purely on your own words and actions.

Yea how incriminating, the letters were in fact transcripts of abuse i got via the PM system from HV staff and i posted them on the forum

You are making out you were sympathetic playing games and telling tells of what i told in confidence via pm. To the point of even taking screen shots and keeping them for years

You were so wrapped up in the lies and deceit that your having trouble telling fact from fiction. Prey tell where is the proof of anything you said? If that's it me saying i deleted the letters, you really are clutching at straws.

Funny the replies do not suggest at all in those pms that i did anything you are suggesting. funny that .

Hi-Velocity do indeed quote membership of an Ofcom Approved ADR on their website but neither of the Approved ADRs show them as members. So I think that route is closed to their long suffering customers.

Maybe contacting their supplier as mentioned on this thread is the way forward as well as complaining to Ofcom.

The best way to avoid this kind of trouble is to avoid resellers/referral operators in the first place.

I wouldn't worry about it. Even their fans find out the hard way when they try to leave.

Most people around this parish know that Hi-Velocity are rotten and obstruct migration.

They provided a very poor connection and abusive customer service when I was with them some years ago. All the signs are that they have deteriorated further since.

I wouldn't worry, it is a well used tactic to divert attention from the issue of appallingly bad service from the reseller and get the thread locked.

Is he someway connected with them personally? Someone has told me he is . That would explain a lot. Do you remember the other guy that did the same thing and a member here outed him as working for HV.

It is difficult to know who 'them' are as IP Telecom Solutions who were the Hi-Velocity that we all grew to love over the years appear to be in liquidation.

Unbelievable isn't Dusty. after all these years all these false accusations come flying out!

I for one, can back you 100% for what happened in the past and I have the PM's to prove it!

Why can't people leave sleeping dogs lie?

Anyway, hope everything is well.

Mark

Its quite simple.
You made some posts. You deleted the posts. You denied ever having made the posts.

The screenshot proves you did make the posts in question.

Thats proof that you lied.

Why would you deny making the posts for all these years if there was nothing you were concerned about in them?

I've proven in this thread what the facts are.
You call it clutching at straws, I call it providing the evidence you asked for.

It seems to me if any one is wrapped up in the fiction of their online persona its you and not me.

More fiction again. I'm not, and never have been connected with HV in any way other than being a customer.

I hope people have actually read the posts in this thread.

I originally posted trying to help an HV customer sort out his issues.
Nowhere have I defended HV or tried to promote them. Nor have I denied the issues that people have had in the past.

However Dusty can't see a post from me without dragging up a load of stuff from the past. Read the thread objectively and you'll see.

I'm not interested in going over all the details I'm simply answering points Dusty choose to raise.

As far as I can see as long as Dustys around there will be no sleeping dogs left in peace.

I suggest you read the thread.
I posted to to try and help someone with issues. Dusty was the one to divert attention away from people with current issues, although I agree we are seeing well used tactics which are tried and tested by Dusty throughout the years.

Nowhere have I denied the poor service some customers experienced, once again, actually read whats been posted.

Simple is it? those screen shots do not say i made posts, they say something about letters not posts. So when have people referred to posts as letters. It says nothing about me swearing making posts and deleting them at all. Your making things up in your head and trying to link to them to make your lie credible. Actually those Pms they point in my favour, thank you

Oh you even added your own little photo shop in a box, saying " here you say you deleted post" you circle what i said and it does not say anything of the kind in fact i said " i took the letters off the forum now". So even there people can see your a liar, because you just posted the proof of it. Your credibility in this is dropping lower and lower by showing people how you are twisting a pm, in to something that never happened.

Look at the first post at the bottom by you or who ever sent that pm, PMing me and fishing, asking what went on and then taking screen shots, wonder why you took the screen shots and keeping them all these years, wonder why. Would it be to see what i say and pass it on to HV. We all know that went on and we all know you and others have a personal relationship with HV and its staff.

Funny isn't it, if your not personally involved, why the screen shots and you kept them all these years

At the time a band of you conspired lied cheated and try to gain my trust to get information out of me to pass on to HV. We all know what you are about and you are the lowest of the low. Marc had the decency to phone me well after the event and said what went on against you was wrong and played on his conscience. Shame you and others don't have enough moral backbone to do the same.

Thank you Mark, i suppose i started this all up, but when i see certain posters and what they did i feel i deserve an apology for what they did. I suppose asking them to be decent human beings was to much to ask.

I really don't think we should debate a PM ( not so private eh ) dated April '05.

Not just water under the bridge..they've built a new bridge since then.

As the OP asked the question in March I assume/hope/expect the issue has been resolved, if not start a new thread.
