BT is set to increase prices by up to 6.5% from December.
Broadband prices are going up by as much as 6.49% while standard line rental for direct debit customers will increase by £1 or 6.25%.

I reckon other ISP's are to follow BT's price rise soon. I know PN already done it but more likely they probably do it again sometimes in 2015.

Given PN are putting up prices in September, they're hardly likely to put them up again within a couple of months. Stop trolling.

But you just said they are putting them up in December. please don't say anything unless you have facts to put across.
I mean BT price rise in December (not PN) apology if I did confuse everyones. But, I didn't metion PN price rise in December but will do sometimes in 2015.

I been look up three isp's put up price.
Virgin Media standalone broadband gone up £1.50
Plusnet Line Rental gone up from £14.50 to £15.95 (that was £1.45 rise)
BT line rental gone up £1 extra. (from £15.99 to £16.99)
So, Plusnet & Virgin are expensive rise!

That E Mail is only for line rental increase, not broadband. Meaning u can leave line rental but not broadband. But, how will broadband will work if u did cancel line rental! lol
Mine won't increase cos line rental saver is expired next year July 2015. So, any line rental price increase will not affect me.

So if I was to ring up and say no I don't agree etc it means I can terminate my phone line? Or just change providers? if it's the former what happens to the internet based on the fact it can't run without a phone line.
I'm curious as I got asked this yesterday and didn't know for sure.
From what I heard on the radio earlier, no one will be charged for cancelling their broadband, I suppose more info on this will emerge in the coming week.

You've lost me there.
What has a BT price rise got to do with Plusnet prices, apart from adslmax's stuff that they might go up some time in 2015? So might/will BT's. He's just having one of his wild rants.
You certainly won't get any info about Plusnet's next price rise when the imminent one hasn't even happened yet .

PN's increase in prices for the rest of 2014 happens next month, looks like they've beaten BT to it
It's been reported in the media that Ofcom's view is if people don't like the BT-retail price increases they can vote with their feet as there are other suppliers in the telco market.

I've just been given a MAC, due to the line rental increases. No termination charges. Will loose about a month of my LRS though.

Because with this being the Plusnet forum and the debate supposedly about what Plusnet prices might do, and there is a thread in the BT one about their price rises, I assumed your 4 September was because the current Plusnet offer ends then.
Edit - except it ends 2 Sept .

If you've cancelled due to the terms change, you shouldn't lose any of your LRS - BT would be obliged to refund pro-rata that too - you only lose your LRS if you move by your own choice, not by detrimental terms changes.
|
|
|
|
Well, I am still not happy when my LRS go up next year with Plusnet. As I signed agreement two years contract with the same broadband/phone monthly cost. As I am not paying anymore than that! End of. If PN decide we will rise our line rental in September and again in 2015, then I will be off to somewhere else.

Plusnet don't care. They say to me "You will lose all your LRS if you want to move to other isp because of line rental increase but your LRS isnt affect by the rise until next year" but that's NOT the only point. I rather keep my LRS for at least two years to remain £14.50 per month not £15.95 per month.

I should have stayed with BT as a line rental (because no ones told me about BT Basic £15.40 every 3 months including £4.50 calls) as I was on the Employment Support Allowance on the support group. If I knew this, I wouldn't move to Plusnet but hang on, why isn't Plusnet not doing Plusnet Basic £15.40 every 3 months including £4.50 calls?
I better give Plusnet a call on Tuesday.
|
|

Because PlusNet is not subject to the same USO obligations as BT

In that case after my LRS had expired, I will move my line back to BT and get BT Basic. But it NOT nice if Plusnet push FTTC charge of £2.50 extra without a phone with them. I will tell Ofcom to stop this as I felt it isn't fair.

Not anymore! Don't think Plusnet will NOT offer that again. They normally do this for new customer but have to sign up a longest length contract! Once my two years contract is up (I rather stay one month contract roll on)

Yep 24 months is more discount than 18 months! U can ask Plusnet for 24 months to find out what offer u get from them. Good luck Pete.
Look at this offer £100 to spend - http://www.moritatelecom.co.uk/node/310

They would have to through a wicked worth while deal at me to take an 18 month contract for anything, I only have a 24 month contract with O2 refresh as I can pay off phone when I like and I'm free to get another phone or leave... ect.
Virgin is the only broadband company I have ever entertained an 18 month contract with and they gave me 12 months half price, 2 tivos free of charge, and free evening and weekend calls wicked deal then Liberty Global took over and my mad discounts went out the window with a shocking price increase.

Well as Igni said, they did pump a billion into it and no doubt that will give us more speed etc in the future
Well the investment at head ends is great but no good if they don't fix issues and and degraded equipment and coaxial in the local areas and the money they give to customers to make a problem disappear without a fix could go towards replacing degraded coaxial loops and faulty and worn cabinets.
Until then issues will still plague the networks and customers connections.

I have absolutely no doubt Plusnet will follow in time. As will Sky, TalkTalk, and Virgin Media. They're a line rental cartel, they rinse as much as possible out of the line rental as that's the part they can put into the small print on the broadband ads.

That's where most of the money in existing networks is going. Upgrading the hubsites is relatively cheap. The local networks are the costly bit.

this is why I posted on plusnet's forums about ditching my line rental.
I have now got the large cashback and free install, the only gain left from it now is a bit cheaper broadband which is offset by a rapidly rising line rental.

I'm sure it considering they have been neglected for so long that a lot of the network would require complete replacement...
Also do you reckon they will keep in as Coax loop of cabs to a node or would they "maybe" upgrade coax loop to fibre.

Why do we go through this every time there is a price increase?
All the telcos are companies that are required to make a profit for their shareholders and to invest in their networks, etc.
